It's just about the significance of a loss on an injury.

An average Brit will defend Lewis even in details that are clearly impossible to defend.

    Pointless really.. Yawn.. :-((

Or from someone around the corner, whatever. Calm down. Maybe it's just a rumour. The fact that Lewis refused the rematch that he PROMISED is not though. How about that pile of ****?

    Lewis was old and fat.

Older and fatter than he had ever been in the ring before. That's a fact.

As for the fight, he looks noticeably pudgy, and looked gassed after a few rounds. But his lion heart came through to take the fight to Vitali in rounds 4-6 and he got him out of there by slicing his face up.

Yes you would think it was obvious but the thread starter is trying to dispute that Lewis was "old and fat", when the facts tell us he was.

As for Vitali, he was game but ultimately couldn't put away a worse version of Lewis than Haseem Rahman did.

First of all, cuts are a very legitmate was to determine the outcome of a fight, happens all the time. Obviously the fact that Vitali was cut in at least 3 places and required dozens of stitches tells me his face couldn't really hand the type of punches Lewis was throwing at him. As for "word" coming from lewis' corner that he was gassed, i don't know what the hell you're talking about. I've been involved with these discussions since the fight happened and this is the first time anyone ever said that. References would be appreciated. Still don't know what that means "the word came out from his corner that he was gassed", was there a public announcement everyone but you missed?

Hard to argue against that, although in the heat of the moment, with adrenaline still rushing through his veins I'm sure he was feeling on top of the world at that moment. But hard to argue against him stringing us along for 5-6 months longer than necessary, and one can only assume that he was debating about how the rematch would unfold.

Which fighter was hanging on for dear life in the last 10 seconds of round 6? Which fighter had lost the last two rounds? I'll give you a clue, it wasn't the nasty black man.

So just say you don't like Lewis and be done with it, and move to another thread rather than give us ridiculous rumour stories. Then you don't have to bother yourself with this pile of ****.

As you said - cuts are legit way to determine the outcome of the fight - because health safety isuues.. But to a degree they are random and accidental, they don't determine much if one fighter is overall better than the other. If after the 5th knockdown of Frazier, Foreman got cut by a lucky punch and doctor would stop the fight when Frazier was ready to go - how would you rate Joe's victory?

As for "word", I heard it from someone claiming to be in the arena, pretty close to the ring that night. I got no proof, just sounds probable to me. Sorry if I made i sound like a fact.

My point is you try to compare the two in which are not compariable IMO...Bryd wasnt doing any damage to Vitali IMO in which Lewis was able to...Lets be realistic here for a second..Nobody can deny that Lewis was starting to tee off on Vitali in those last to rounds before the stoppage...were as Byrd wasnt nearly having that much success against Vitali IMO...I see what you're trying to point out but that way off if you actually look at the whole picture...Yes the fight due to a TKO (Vitali had a shoulder injury against Byrd where as Lennox ripped the man's face apart)

I just though Lennox did enough to get the TKO...Vitali should have defended himself better and maybe we wouldnt have this conversation this day.

I do like Lewis. I just criticize what he did with being all cocky after such an even fight and refusing the rematch he promised.

What I don't like is silly Brit nuthuggers like yourself.
