While I of course haven't seen the HBO broadcast of Taylor-Pavlik :)roll:) the impression that I've gotten is that Lewis's commentary is more assertive and emotional, but that HE has began emphasising UNIMPORTANT words IN his sentences, because HE is trying so hard TO not just sound monotonal.

    Thoughts?

I think he is fair, has good insight, and is better than Roy Jones and possibly Foreman, much better than Lampley

When Lewis started out as an announcer, his main problem was his ego, not looking comfortable in the camera, and use of the same words. He has evloved into a much better announcer. He seems more relaxed, and can add a fighter’s perspective on what’s going on in the ring.

I think his comments during the fight are pretty good, but pre-fight and post-fight he says some unnecessary stuff sometimes. He is also pretty bad at answering questions from Lampley/Merchant.
Remember what Lewis said when Lampley asked which fight was better, a rematch or Pavlik vs Kessler/Calzaghe? I don't remember exactly but it was a weird answer. Foreman would talk **** often (saying that Lewis should relax and jab after he knocked Grant down twice) but he did have clear, witty answers for those type of questions.

He does look and sound a lot more relaxed, though.

It's funny, but a bit annoying, how he says that the fight is over whenever someone goes down, no matter what.

He said "that's it!" when Pavlik was on his feet during the count.

I guess it's just because he can't relate to going down and not being knocked out.

Lewis isn't very good at it. They should get rid of him. He has improved but WAY too slow. Merchant made him his ***** TWICE and Lewis only sounded good at the end of the telecast, not during the fight.

Bring in Hopkins - someone who can talk. Why the **** would they bring in Lewis? Did Merchant not remember hwo their interviews used to go? He isn't talkative and when he is it consisted of shouting 'BO', 'pugilist specialist', 'big up' etc

I think Lennox is doing an excellent job, but he needs to stand up to Merchant, when Merchant tells him something technically about fighting, that isnt true. Lewis seems to just keep his mouth shut while Roy and George would argue with him back.
