    :deal

It simply doesn't make sense. Nobody who's 100% clean would invite those guys to be in the same zip code as their gym, let alone keep 'em on the payroll. There isn't a shortage of sports nutritionists out there with a clean name and none of the baggage.

Too bad none of them have the pedigree of making sure world class dopers peeing clean like these cats, otherwise they'd get more work.

Yep, that's the big pink elephant standing in the middle of the room here.
Once they hook up with guys like that, you know what's up.

The same probably goes for hiring Ariza

    Agreed.

It takes a healthy dose of denial to buy that your fighter's really "clean" once those guys are lurking around. Just "clean enough" not to pop a positive test.

In my opinion Donaire has always been clean. First guy to do year round VADA testing too, way back near VADA's inception.(Which maximum of 2 months have been catching people left and right).

Conte kept his mouth shut and did his time, seems to have some pride to him. Heredia seems like a real snake, but yea, I wouldn't hire neither. Heredia is also a chemist so I don't really buy his knowledge as a strength & conditioning coach, from what I've seen he ruins fighters with the weight training and is only good for the juice he creates in his apartment.

Never heard of the Balco scandal before?

"Memo" Heredia has been a PED designer that ratted on his colleagues for a deal with the FBI, and Victor Conte president/founder of Balco and designer of the THG drug.

Donaire's kind of the exception that proves the rule.

I still don't like that he dealt with Conte, but I'll at least give him credit for knowing bringing Vic in was a huge red flag and undergoing extra testing at a personal cost to him to try and alleviate that. Even with the Olympic style testing, a critic could always say "well, the Olympic testing couldn't catch Conte's athletes, either"

You're correct on Heredia, but incorrect on Conte. Conte is a salesman, but he hired a chemist Pat Arnold who modified existing steroids. Conte is as reformed as you can get. Even Jeff Nowitsky has given him his stamp of approval. Heredia on the other hand is still selling PEDs. Btw, on the topic of BALCO, only Conte has done time for his crimes. Heredia escaped with a deal plea with the Feds for giving up the ppl behind BALCO. Conte ironically has been in court a lot for slander and such like with suits by Mosley, Jones, etc. It's pretty hilarious really.

BALCO was a landmark case and actually with his insight after the trial and his prison time, he's helped the Feds and WADA in specific change their drug profiling.

:think Kind of like Frank Abagnale (the guy Catch Me if You Can is based on)?

Exactly, nailed it. When VADA was established by the godfather of anti-doping, Don Catlin and NSAC doctor, Margaret Goodman, they brought in Conte to help lay the groundwork. The guy that prosecuted BALCO and tried to takedown Armstrong, Jeff Novitsky of the FDA, now uses him as a consultant as well.

Interesting- I didn't realize the extent of his reform. Should've done my homework more on that one, but I'm glad to hear he's trying to do some good. Thanks for the info :good

"We have used creams that leave no trace and give the athlete a steadily higher testosterone levels."

"I've created 20 different drugs that are still undetectable for the doping testers."

quotes from Memo, they should tell you everything about the athletes he's worked with

You should check out his videos on youtube, especially the ones with Joe Rogan. He spells out how dopers go about doping, the 1-2-3s color by numbers. Ever wonder why it seems only VADA is catching cheaters in boxing?
