Replacing Billy conn in 41 against Louis which of these light heavy s iyo stands that best chance of pulling off a upset? Bob foster? Dwight Qawi? Michael spinks? These fighters will be coming in at there peak.
Spinks movement could cause louis big issues. Dwight would be infront of louis and get stopped. Cant see foster moving about enough to not catch a hook that flattens him. So spinks
Louis KO's all 3...Joe was a great finisher. Good luck to Spinks....Qawi get chopped up and stopped by Joe's uppercuts...and well...as great as Foster was as Lt. Heavy champ..(1968-74)...we know how he did against the top tier heavyweights...say "Goodnight" boys...
Billy Conn gave Joe Louis plenty of problems in their first meeting. I can't believe that he's the ONLY light heavy who ever would have done this. With that said, I still believe Joe would have beaten all of the mentioned names by the OP.
Hi mr M. Which lght heavy do u feel could do the job on Louis? I actually think spinks out of any one could give Louis a real test. Fair enough he beat a older version of Holmes and cooney as a heavy. But I feel he had the skill s and perhaps chin to survive against Joe. I wouldn't be putting the house on it, after all its Louis we're talking about but if conn could I think s spinks in with a chance.
Yep out of the three can see spinks certainly giving Joe a few hard rounds. Very crafty, cagey fighter.
its a funny one this... the question almost encourages giving an exaggerated answer, just to give an answer...but my answer would be which would do best against him rather than pull an upset. also...factoring in modern light heavies who dehydrate and bulk back up on fight nights to what louis fought at...he was hitting under 200lbs in 1941. anyway...all things considered, including weight on fight night etc and what a light heavy should be around 1941 as it was...i suppose roy jones. reading back i wonder if any of that makes any sense to anyone except me
Billy Conn was Joe Louis' seventh title defense in seven months. Anyone can have an off night when they're fighting so often and there's so much attention and pressure surrounding every match. Louis' team was working him to death. Louis just had an off night against Conn. Joe took three months before his next fight and delivered one of his more dominant performances. That said, if Joe entered the ring with Michael Spinks and had an off night, like he did against Conn, Spinks could take him. But with both Louis and Spinks at their best, Louis knocks him out.
Bob had trouble with natural hw so Louis by ko. Dwight had excellent defense and chin. No ko here . Joe on points. Spinks awkward style would trouble Joe and like the first Schmeling fight Joe would be perplexed and lose on points. Rematch Joe would have adapted and ko Spinks .
None....you'd have to go to Langford for a real challenge...saad might be interesting while it lasted
Louis was almost knocked out by feather fisted Billy Conn who couldn't punch at his own weight class. Billy Conn wasn't a natural light heavyweight either. He started his career at 17 and weighed 135 ( Or course he could of just been a skinny teenager but still) Up until his 56 fight Conn was a super middleweight by modern standards. Seeing how glass Joe Louis chin was and how easy he could be hit. Bob Foster, Spinks, Sergei Kovalev and other natural light heavyweights would have a chance of out boxing and maybe even stopping Louis if he didn't get caught.
