It seems after a few years of totall dullness some very exciting LHW matchups are in the works. Let's see:

Calzaghe - Hopkins deserves the no1 spot. Calzaghe the undisputed SMW king moving up and facing former undisputed MW now generally recognized LHW champ B-Hop is a great matchup.

Dawson - Johnson as no2, Dawson is the future of the division and he's facing the road warrior, a real old school fighter, one that's willing to face everyone everywhere. Also former champion with a relentless pressure fighter attitude. Skill vs will... can't wait to see this one.

Although not yet official as far as I know, but it seems Tarver will face Woods for the IBF title. This will be Tarver's first real test since his loss to B-Hop. Although Woods seems the favourite in this one based on their recent performances but you can never write down Tarver who has very good overall skills and some serious pop.

And finally WBA beltholder Danny Green's manager announced that they've been approached by WBO champ Zsolt Erdei's camp about doing a unification.

If this comes through this will be the first unification bout in the divison in a very long time.

Zsold Erdei is a very bad match-up for Green even if it is for a unification, but I agree that everything is developing from that Calzaghe-Hopkins official announcement. They don't want to lose the chance of getting a payday with the winner of that one next... Happens that the future opponent of that is supposed to be Roy without any other tune-up, eliminator or noticeable matchup this year and the winner of Calzaghe-Hopkins takes no more than one fight next... So it's kind of an illusion that the Division came back to life for keeps, I think.

It might be an illusion but at least something's happening right now. True, the winner of Calzaghe - Hopkins won't be a major player in the division for long but it seems their fight ultimately leads to other interesting fights. If that unification happens that will be another huge step to the right direction as one unification nearly always results in more. If there are 4 beltholders none can really claim to be better than the others but if there's one champ with two belts, the others usually want to take those away from him. Also shouldn't forget about some really tough contenders like Briggs, Diaconu, Garay - all of them quite exciting fighters. And there are the SMW top-dogs: Kessler, Bute, Mundine etc. who might move up in the future.

Any news on Diocanu?? Haven't heard news on him since he pulled out of his fight with Dawson. He was looking like a serious Contender.
