Liakhovich vs. Valuev

He is 7 foot, can move, jabs, has excellent stamina, and has an iron jaw. Valuev will never be a pushover.

 

well said, his stamina is amazing for his size. Valuev I think would even be a tall order for Wlad to handle.

I've thought that the Brewster fight took more out of Sergei than people think. His team seems awfully careful about who they're willing to match him with, and say what you want about Briggs, but he can bang.

Seems to me that Liakhovich "lost" by "winning" vs. Brewster, that fight took a lot out of both guys, and in the Briggs fight, Sergei seemed unwilling to engage after getting rocked early in the fight, and since then, Liakhovich's team has carefully avoided seeking fights vs. big hitters instead seeking fights vs. guys like Valuev (doesn't hit particularily hard for his size) or James Toney (hasn'd KO'd anyone in couple of years now).

Liakhovich is gun shy now, as you already said Brewster took alot of him. In the Briggs fight he got countered early by Briggs and was tenative since, When Briggs knocked him out in the 12th round I was shocked and was in disbelieve. Sergei will never be the same and will not fight well against even an above average puncher like Valuev, his size will be too much to handle for Sergei IMO.

 

Well anyone whos ever been in the ring will tell you, after you get knocked out in a devastating way like he did you should always try and get a fight within the couple months so you dont dwell on it cause that will only make you worse when you do have to come back and fight. I like Sergei, but he listens to no one in his corner and does things his way in the ring, and paid for it. Look at Brewster when he came back to fight Wlad, he was not the same fighter that fought Sergei just 15 months before.

 

Thats what I was trying to say, hes already sat on the loss to long IMO. I really dont believe a guy like Valuev is the best choice of oppenents for him, while he might not hit as hard as Briggs he certainly is a very Physically imposing figure to square of against. Valuev will beat Liakhovich, his punch is enough to back Sergei up and if he gets him up against the ropes I could see this one being stopped in the early rounds.
