Baluta looked like **** to be honest and the better boxer won.

No, I wasn't. I was simply unimpressed by Davies. Yeah, he was landing clean counters here and there, but by no means was this some kind of stunning schooling. Baluta's activity and occasional wild hook that he'd land was almost enough to or was enough to edge the 3 flush shots Davies would land per round. The commentators were deranged and borderline fanatical with their worship of a man who only looked slightly more impressive than Brad Foster. The only thing "special" about Davies tonight was his length. Hell, even you couldn't bring yourself to have him winning wide.

That's debatable, most on thi RBR had him losing between 4 and 6 rounds.

Watching the post-fight interview, I have to give Davies a bit of credit for his performance coming so soon after the charisma bypass operation...

Commentators being hyperbolic dicks is nothing new.

I didn't call it wide because it wasn't wide. As inaccurate as Baluta's work was, there were a few rounds where his volume and handful of hits won the round in my eyes.

But in terms of tools and intelligence there was only one boxer in that ring tonight. And Baluta was nowhere near getting a draw, despite it not being wide.

I didn't foresee a shutout, would've been an unreasonable expectation, but I thought Liam would win and I think he did enough. His boxing never fell apart under the same pressure that has upset a number of his UK/Éire peers. Even when he held his feet and traded, he did so judiciously and with discipline, tending to punctuate the exchanges.

He faced a good boxer in his last bout. This was a different kind of test, but just as valid. Davies might not be a future worldbeater, and the lack of power will be an issue, but he's progressing decently for now.

Davies-Cain would be an excellent domestic rumble.

Davies would win pretty comfortably on points to be honest. I would like to see either of them fight Shabaz Masoud too, I think Davies is the best of all of them at the weight.
