I’m sorry mate because I know you are a big fan of the Smith brothers. The excuse making is pathetic here. Given the outcry over Eubank blaming the elbow etc, Smith needs to lick his wounds and stop blaming everyone but himself. Has he heard of portion control? Biggest fight of his career and hurts his back and puts on 3 stone. Career 154 drained at 160. There is probably the same argument that the horrific weight cut Eubank had to endure vs Benn has some lingering effects. Eubank said none of that. He said it wasn’t his night and moved on. Clearly Smith wasn’t himself, but he should act with more humility and let’s others say that instead of blaming the world for getting beat

Agreed, but your post is exactly my point. Eubank made a tonne of excuses. Elbow, ref, towel. Why is this being forgotten? Everyone accepted he should get a rematch but Smith shouldn’t? Makes no sense to me.
I agree it’s unprofessional if he did go that high in weight but it’s by the by in my opinion.

Not really sure why everyone is jumping on the "excuse" bandwagon from Liam Smith here.

Did people actually watch the post-fight presser or are they just going off sound bytes hand picked by the media outlets ?

If you watched it... he literally said Chris was the better man on the night and that his performance was flat. Then when pressed by the media for reasons as to why his performance was so flat and "where did it go wrong" - he gave a genuine response with reasons regarding his preparation that hampered the performance.

I agree with everything in this post. I am almost certain it won’t happen too mate but like you say rightly or wrongly I think it’s massively wrongly and typical of Eubank and the boxing publics relationship with him why that is.

Yeh the responsibility (bar injury) obviously lies with smith whatever difficulties he was facing (agree on portion control for instance ive lost weight before injured by eating f all). I dont think anyones saying that it doesnt. People are just stating the facts why he looked like a complete bag of shite in there. They are saying well done for eubank coming in ready to do the job but they dont find it that impressive as it was clearly a weight drained and injured liam smith, even if that is mostly his fault. And as heres johnny has said its simply not true that eubank offered no excuses, there plenty, weight drained, trainer, elbow, towel, ref stopping it early, breezing the fight till then etc. Its mad that people are pretending that didnt happen.

Am I missing something? I don't live in England, so what exactly is your point? Do you and Mr Excuses Scouser normally make such ill-informed comments?

Thank you. I was thinking have I missed things here? It’s the young war horse, warriors code guy big myth though isn’t it. Top con man, he’s not even chasing belts now just money but everyone seems to be all over him again after an extremely average safety first peformance. I have never liked Joshua but if Joshua boxes like that he’s slaughtered on here. Especially against an unfit injured man. They’re very fickle and I am certain I will be proven right about him if he every fights in a proper fight again, which I don’t think he will. Let’s not forget he only took the Smith fight because he’s a career 154. No way he goes near him if he’s his own weight just like now, he’s avoiding the rematch. All the honourable, warrior stuff out the window now eh. Only likes it stacked in his favour. Wouldn’t entertain a Callum fight, loses his pen, tries to weight bully a tiny Benn and then people use this as an excuse for him getting destroyed fair and square by Smith. This kid would land in **** and come up smelling of roses and sun shining out of his arse.

Their hero Eubank though isn’t it. Also, as you know any excuse to put someone from Liverpool down on here. I remember years ago he was absolutely slated on here for no apparent reason all personal insults etc. they’ve died down when he’s been doing well it seems like they couldn’t wait to switch back haha.

Eubank never blamed the weight when it would have been easy to. The elbow etc was farcical talk by Eubank but probably needed an excuse for himself as his ego would not have been able to comprehend that he got laid out pretty quickly and easily.

I don’t like the talk of Smiths trainer etc - don’t put him in the ring if he isn’t ready, it’s a dangerous enough sport as it is.

The embarrassing thing for me is how his trainer, and others, are saying things like "everyone knew he was injured and the weight was hard" - erm, no we didn't, he's up from 154 so why would it be? Why be so confident at the weigh-in when Eubank questioned Smith's look on the scales?

It's little different than Benn and Eubank agreeing to fight regardless of a VADA result (and then Smith/Eubank doing the same after a horrific weight cut); a fighter weight-drained is just as dangerous as one on PEDs. Everyone involved needs to take a hard look at themselves.

Smith defrauded the box office mugs going into the fight injured.

Happens time and again yet they still fork out.
