I agree, should've been 10-7 round rather than a stoppage, and Smith also should've been penalized by the ref for fouling, you can't punch a fighter when he's down over and over in boxing.

 

I think that this stoppage is BS, tbh, but I dont complain. The referee just spared us a couple of "omg my ankle!! I take another knee" embarrasing moments. That's all. This fight was over, so I guess that the referee made the right choice, even if I dont like it very much.

I agree smith should have been penalized too. It should NEVER be allowed to hit a guy with his knee on the canvas. No exceptions at all, none.

 

No problem with the referee stopping the fight because the other fella quit but why didn`t he warn Smith for hitting after the guy was on the floor?

 

If a fighter is going down and spitting his gum shield out with out being hit what else can the ref do but stop the fight. As hard as it seems to say it, Mwakinyo was simply looking for a way out imo .

No I don’t think he is either. They are both just above average in respect to quality.

 

Should have been 10-7 as he wanted to continue fighting, and twice Liam should have been penalized for punching him multiple times as he was down. If he goes down a third time it's okay to stop it, but not only after two without even a warning to Liam, who fouled his opponent about ten times.

 

If the guy is injured the ring side doctor should check it out to determine if he can continue.

 

that's where we dont agree. I dont think that he wanted to continue fighting at all, no matter if he said he wanted. And the referee thought the same way I did. He just wanted to go home, it was very clear to me.

 

Mwakinyo was looking for a way out and he got exactly what he wanted .
