Could be but I think has decent enough power to hurt someone if he catches them like that though.

You can see he buzzes people but they’re not concussing i think. He has to land a lot perfectly in combination to stop people. His opponent looked iffy a couple of times tonight but did enough to survive to the end.

He does put his shots together really nicely and I think that's what accounts for the vast majority of his inside schedule wins. I wouldn't consider him a light puncher though. Maybe more average power.

I rewatched a couple of these rounds i wasn't able to follow closely while it was live. They were close. It wasn't a robbery. The 117-111 was bull**** but 115-113 Kurbanov isn't a robbery card. I think 7-5 for either guy is a fair card. Smith edged it on my card but he was outworked in a lot of those rounds and edged with big shots. Not saying he should lose that but he could have won that comfortably with a bit more output.

I haven't seen the fight. Did Kurbanov get a home cooking decision?

Sort of, but it wasn't anywhere near 'Chisora/Parker' bad.

115-113 was fair and can't argue there. Close fight either way. Commentary was pro - Smith. Sadly for Smith he lost two close rounds by being stunned late in them.

Yeah sure you shouldn't be able to steal a round, but if it's close enough those final seconds DO matter. And they did here imo.

Didn't watch it, I will though, but I've seen a lot of people saying it was a "poor decision", some saying "robbery" but every poor decision is now a robbery.

Did anybody really expect Smith to get a decision over there?

And we can't really complain, especially as British boxing fans after the crap we pull over here.

Poor decision should be called out regardless where they are but the fact we screw fighters coming over here almost constantly and what goes around comes around.

Kind of a crap decision, imo.

Had it 116-112 Smith and the most I could swing to would be a draw if I were to give Kurbanov the benefit of the doubt. But, even then, Kurbanov should have had the KD counted against him, making the result all the more dubious.

    Round 1 Smith 10-9

Clear knockdown not counted. Otherwise a close feel out round, both men landed little of note, so the shot tha put him down, edges it towards Beefy.
