Liam Smith is so methodical in his work. For me he didn’t seem to do that much but when he did it was really effective. His ringmanship really is superb.

Credit to Fowler, he really had to bite down on his gumshield at times but alas, it wasn’t enough. He’ll come again but needs to work on his upper body movement. He’s too easy to hit.

 

You can’t turn down a fight like that if you believe in your fighter. The first two rounds were brilliant for Fowler but ultimately he didn’t have enough power to change the course of the fight.

 

Trying to help his brother. I thought it was funny.

 

I'm not going to comment on the fight until Conor Benn has spoken.

Biggest problem for Fowler was his footwork. He definitely has much better hands than feet. Not enough against someone with good head movement and relentless pressure.

Good nights boxing ok the McGrail fight and Conway v Metcalf were boring but 3 really good fights in Courtenay v Mitchell,Cheesman v Williamson and Smith v Fowler

 

Fowler was having to work at 100 percent just to stay in it, whereas Smith was only operating at 75 percent.

Levels

 

Regarding Fowler, still a future for him in a great 154 domestic scene (Cheeseman, Conway, Fitz if he comes back etc) but wind it in with the live the life bollox and world titles.
