Nobody ever seems to mention that the fatal butt was an immediate retaliation for the butt that Williams drove through Smith's guard moments before. That said, Smith's bout of tit for tat probably did him a disservice. He was cutting it pretty fine, but he may well have gotten his lad out of there cleanly without that final clash of heads. Welsh Liam had started to enjoy himself much less, and was tiring after seeing his best digs absorbed, and Scouse Liam had started to enjoy himself much more, coming on strong having finally found a rhythm. I did have a substantial wager on Smith inside the distance, so (to my eternal discredit) I wasn't full of protest when Fat Terry ruled the injury to have been caused by a punch. Like another fellow said earlier in the thread, I think Williams may carry the experience into the rematch in a way that doesn't improve his fortunes.
I'm a bit surprised at the scores prior to the bogus stoppage. Williams was in front, but only by a single point on all scorecards. That concerns me for the rematch.
The scores were wrong but what’s it making you wonder about? If there was bias towards anyone it was Williams. Frank was devastated when Smith won. Visibly gutted. I think Smith is off after this fight and probably only stayed around for the rematch. Even a quick look on Instagram then and frank has posted up a video of Williams saying what he’s gona do to smith. There’s none from the Smith camp from Warren. It’s clear who he wants to win.
Am not a Smith fan but if he does win his not gonna get any big fights with Frank he only got the Canelo fight because Canelo wanted a easy fight it wasn't Franks doing I think Frank knows his gonna leave after this fight
I wouldn't expect him to say anything different after failing to stop someone. Really glad to get 12 rounds in rather than 11 still seems like BS especially if he could have easily forced the stoppage.
I would normally agree, but I had money on Smith stopping him in that fight in an accumulator, and I was gripped to the screen, going absolutely bonkers over his body language because he let him off. I don’t get why, but he did. He is normally devastating when an opponent is wobbled
