You think that Scott should have moved up after Wayne because of his size, so would that not explain why he faded in the latter rounds of his last title fights. The fact he even managed to last a couple of rounds, after the punishment he put his self through to get to the weight was remarkable. There's no excuses now and come the 20th he will be ready.
Looking at his record he's not, but he flattened Mitchell and IMO did a better job on him than Katsidis. I think he's hitting harder since he moved up, Mitchell had sparred him just over a year earlier, so maybe he felt he wasn't a big puncher. The low KO% can also be put down to the number of journeyman Ricky's faced who are always difficult to stop and Ricky never really goes all out for the KO.
What was missing from Ricky's game was a ruthless streak that all top fighters have ,but there were signs against Mitchell that he is developing one. He has a good jab, great defence and good boxing brain add a bit of aggression and he will be even better but I still rate Scott higher and would say if Scott beats Walsh it will be a bigger achievement than when he won the world title.
Adding a bit more ruthlessness has helped Ricky, but what makes him such a good fighter is his temperament, he uses controlled aggression. He banged out Mitchell because he knew he was much stronger, he didnt with Moses because he knew the guy was teak! Ricky has lots of heart but he never lets it rule his head. I dont agree Ricky needs to add more aggression. In the ring the guy knows what he needs to do. Its why i rate him so high. As for Scott Harrison, if he's 70% what he was in his prime he beats Walsh. I doubt he will be tho.
Yeah mate, alot of people have that issue with fighters like Burns. If Burns went in the Ring with the ''i am going to kill you'' mindset of Harrison he would be ****ing ******ed. Harrison did have some good boxing tools but he was more an absolute beast of a man. With Burns its more about the tools, even tho he's a bit of a beast himself nowadays. Scott was defo world class, i seriously doubt he is now, but imo he doesnt need to be with Walsh. Walsh is good tho and it could be a great fight if Harrisons even 70% what he was :yep
Because Kevin probably has better things to do. Like scratch his bollox. How anyone can seriously consider putting Harrison in with a top 10 - 15 lightweight in world is downright scary. Those people should be locked up, never mind Scott.
When I said he need to be more aggresive I didn't mean steaming in all guns blazing and forgetting his game plan, I meant he should go for more knockouts ,he proved against Mitchell that he has got the power. I would like to see it more often.
Why should people be locked away PaulieMc for thinking Scott should be in with top 10-12 world ranked oppoments. I tell you why Scott has a better case for these fights unlike Mitchell, because Scott has proved himself in his life true world class at a weight class that was best in world in last 20 years, Mitchell, Murray amd co have never ever proved world class. If anyone doubts it was best weight class in last year, can they name a division that had the following at top of rankings at same time - Harrison, Barrera, Marquez, Moralas, Pacquaio, Chi, Hamed ? These are guys that p4p would each dominate most divisions in world just now.
Billy N, you state Liam Walsh is really good, then say if Scott beats him he would only prove he beat a good domestic fighter, so in your opinion is Walsh a good Domestic level fighter ? Good European fighter ? Or Good World class fighter ?
