LUFC Longshanks might actually be picking Burns for a future fight!

On page 584 of the Prediction League thread:

Imagine that: there is actually someone he despises more than Burns!

 

English underdogs and Scottish favourites will always be my undoing.

 

Don't get the longshanks thing.

I don't despise Burns, I root against him. I've followed his career for years and actively rooted against him ever since the Gomez fight.

 

Longshanks is a reference to King Edward I of England, who treat the Scots with disdain and saw it as his duty to quell their rebellion against the English.

But why openly root against such a likeable, down-to-earth fellow? (Unless there is something about his general demeanour which discomfits you.) I'd get why you would root against Burns if he had the demeanour of, say, an Anthony Small, a Naseem Named or a Chris Eubank.

 

Nah I don't have disdain towards scottish people.

For the same reason I don't want Murray to win Wimbledon and that I didn't want Wales to win the Euros.
