    Full story from the BBC.

All the best to him. He clearly has a good team around him and he has taken good advice:

Decent fighter and yeah made the right decision to look after his health, he was totally shot of any resistance against Eubank and Sheeraz. Had his finest moment IMO in that first Smith fight where he should have won.

Don’t mean to be negative but I thought he was one of the most overrated boxers on this board for some reason.

I always worried for him, that blinking thing he did seemed to get worse over time it seemed. No idea if it was a problem he had or just some kinda tick/tourette like symptoms. But it just made we always think that there was an underlying problem.

I can remember sparring a novice heavyweight and getting caught with a right hook I didn’t see coming. My brain got so rattled that it felt like my brain/eyes had fallen over but my body was still standing up. That’s when I knew it was time to pack it in

Enjoyed watching him, likeable lad. Will always remember the mass brawl at the first Smith fight. Great. Just wish he come out for even 1 second of round 9 as my weekend would have been paid for.

Mad, many were picking Heffron to beat him.

Wish he’d have smelled the blood when he hurt Andrade and wish he could take a jab still when he fought Eubank he’d have prob won.

Type of fighter you’d think could get a little homecoming farewell in Wales against an overmatched opponent who would also make a few quid as he seems to be well supported.

Now, bear with me because I am not comparing these fighters other than a broad strokes style reference, but Liam always reminded me of a British level Golovkin. Always pressured his opponents, suffocated the ones he fought and could take a dig...good luck to him, hard man

Did he win the Lonsdale belt outright? He won about five British title fights iirc?

Good fighter , shame about the first Smith fight, I thought he was bossing that, punch resistance seemed to disappear overnight though.

A career to be proud of in any case

    Good luck to him
He seems like a pretty sensible character so lets hope he's handled his money well, the worst thing in the world is when lads carry on fighting because they've got bills they can't pay any other way. The way he's spoken about this suggests that he doesn't need to fight for the money, so here's hoping we never see a comeback and he's set for the next stage of his life.
