I'm just guessing, but maybe Williams sees himself as above British title level now. He had 2 very close fights against Liam Smith, who's an ex world title holder, and about to challenge for one again. Maybe Williams thinks he's not far behind since he ran Smith so close.
On the back of the two defeats you need to rebuild. Byfield is a very beatable opponent for him and it’s for a British title. You just know he will be in with an Eastern European bum for nothing next instead and it makes no sense...
Aye Williams needs a solid win against somebody decent to get himself back in the mix and Byfield fits the bill. He might not be the biggest household name but it would be a credible and respectable win to go on and rebuild. It would be a good fight too. Not too disappointed with Byfield vs. Cheeseman for the British title mind you, if that gets made instead. That's a good fight as well. Will Hearn risk one of his up and comers against the very tricky Byfield?
Agree mate, but be good now. No logical reason why Williams would not want that fight now. Wouod be a crackee
Aye I agree. I just think maybe Williams and his team might be setting their sights a bit higher now if they see him as on the fringes of world title level.
