The five stoppage losses are very deceiving.

A few of them were corner stoppages, and one (against Groves) was a complete bull**** referee intervention...one of the worst ever. Seriously. It made Calzaghe-Manfredo look justified. The stoppage at the hands of Rigo Alvarez was bad too. He was coming off a sixteen month layoff and in only his 7th pro bout, so a loss to his heavy-handed countryman would have been justifiable - but it was a farce. He suffered a HARD knockdown from a right hand but was impulsiely waved off while awkwardly scrambling to his feet and clearly good to go.

The only person I'm aware of to legitimately stop him with no ifs ands or buts is David Lemieux who is a powerhouse hitter if nothing else.

El Galan is one hard dude.

Interesting fight. O'Brien has good boxing ability from the outside. Nice jab, when he uses it, but this is a huge step up in class. We will see if he can hang tough and stick to his gameplan and may'be pull off the upset or if Andrade just swallows him whole.

He's about to get sparked if Andrade is operating at anything close to his best. :yep

Nah, he's supposed to be a pretty smooth boxer - but those layoffs can't be good for him coming up against Andrade's brand of pressure.

If Smichet can lay you out with one punch, you're in trouble against Librado.

You're right. It was a body shot.

100% certifiable chin of steel. :good Never been truly knocked out by head shots.

    Round 1

Andrade is right on him, throwing jabs and curvy rights into his chest as O'Brien backs into the ropes. Andrade looks significantly bigger. O'Brien backs up and jabs up into Andrade's face. Body flurry by O'Brien. Andrade pokes both arms out simultaneously in a shoving motion, trying to herd O'Brien into the ropes. Body jabs by Andrade. O'Brien throws cautiously out of a high guard, all one at a time. Jab, right and wild hook all miss for O'Brienas he reforms his guard between each. O'Brien is cut on his left cheek. Andrade keeps tossing out jabs and rights coming forward at a steady clip. Uppercut to the chin by Andrade. Left hook to the body as O'Brien leans in and tries to hold. Andrade just shakes O'Brien violently as the Canadian grasps his left arm, and hits him with his right.

    10-9 Andrade

    that's a pretty frantic pace.

O'Brien didn't come to just lay down, that's for sure.

Hmm, looks like O'Brien is very timid and he's not using his jab. This fight might not last long.
