Morales throws the left hand now behind his jab. Velasquez is down!! Up at ocho. Morales hammers down at him repeatedly but Velasquez manages to get some space. Now Morales lines up his long southpaw 1-2 and lands it twice in a row. Velasquez goes down and doesn't even make an effort to return this time.

KO3!!!

 

Yeah, the description makes it sound like Velasquez was doing better than he was.

I was just really shocked with how poorly Morales started. With all his advantages and the record (not to mention that pedigree) you'd expect him to have no trouble finding/hitting/disposing of such a smaller and equally unpolished guy.

 

Damn, after getting a good long close-up look at his face - "El Terrible II" even looks like the legend. Creepy.

It goes without saying that he'll never amount to 1/1000th what his brother was to the sport, but he could bring some excitement to the lower weights.

 

We join Robert Manzanarez vs. Edgar Martinez in round 4 of 6.

 

Manzarez is scoring well with long hooks and dropping rights out of the sky. Martinez is showing his mouthpiece with a macho grin, but is getting worked over here. Pretty one-way.

 

The only question here is whether Manzanarez can finish this grinning fool off. Martinez is smirking an awful lot for someone who's spouting blood from multiple parts of his face.

 

The broadcast timeslot must have been two hours. That's why they're squeezing in one more fight but only showing half of it (most likely pre-recorded).

I forgot this was on actual television, too.

 

Anyone notice the video quality changes a LOT depending on which camera they cut to? :huh
