    Just saw the fight...

That was a pure bull shot stoppage...

Definitely the ref has never seen Andrade before... he was hit like that many many times before in fights without being stopped.

It was probably inevitable with his style though. Very few other top fighters in history have ever been hit so much, so square and so often by big punchers in such a short time period.

I'm more of the opinion this doesn't say much about Bryant. Andrade historically ALWAYS got outboxed, just was able to overwhelm guys with his toughness. Once the ability to walk through punches is gone, not only isn't he special, but he's actually a pretty **** poor fighter, and he's now a lot slower than he even used to be.

That's pretty much the size of it. Andrade should really retire. Like you point out, without his durability, he really doesn't have much to be competitive at top levels of the sport.

Huh? Bute put him down. He got hit by some big shots but was on his feet and responded fine to the ref. Quick stoppage IMO. Bute had him hurt MUCH more.

Andrade should retire, but I'm afraid to say, I don't think he will. I can see him going on and on, and end up pretty bad...:|

    Well, fair's fair..

If you're going to call Andrade overrated, you have to call Margarito EXTREMELY overrated.

Margarito is no more skilled than Andrade really, and equally reliant on his chin, stamina, heavy hands and relentless forward march - yet at his peak he was 15,000,000x more hyped than Andrade's ever been. (FFS, the best boxer of this generation was accused of being scared shitless to step in the ring with him :-( and numerous fans and maedia typed dubbed him the most avoided individual in the sport! :patsch)

And yeah, even with his chin being dented and having been through many wars where even his wins did him irreparable long-term damage...yes, it's surprising when an unheralded nobody sparks him out.

Uh, yeah - we have time. We're all bullshitting on a forum, apparently.

Sugar Ray Robinson lost more fights than Darnell Boone...yet discussing when his prime began and ended is not only a worthwhile endeavor to most fans, it's something countless threads have been dedicated to. :deal

Journeyman and also-rans are part of the sport, when some of them stick out and make a name for themselves it's certainly worth having a reasonable look at their careers in retrospective. So what if someone never collected an ABC bauble? If they made an impression on the memories of boxing fans, then they're important enough to talk about...

Like that, really? Eyes closing, wincing, backing up, hands down, slumping back against the ropes, not even trying to push forward and fight back?

When, please? Because I've seen a shitload of Andrade fights...and no, he hasn't been in as much trouble as he was in that final 5-10 seconds very often, if ever.

Kessler had him rolling around like that several times in their fight for one.

I understand that if someone has not seen Andrade fight much.. that they would think this was an ok stoppage.

He fought Stieglitz before the Bute rematch. :huh

Andrade looked like a light heavyweight in there with a middleweight. He was literally hulking over Bryant. Before the first bell sounded it looked downright unfair...in Librado's favor.

:think I (and most, who posted cards) had Bryant comfortably winning both rounds 1 & 2...and the first couple of minutes of the 3rd. Andrade's pressure was meandering and ineffective, as it's been in his last few fights. Bryant was landing some crisp counter punches, and he actually caught Andrade's attention with right hands in all three rounds...

For the first time ever, after 35 fights??:lol:

Way, way off. Bryant is a natural super middleweight at MOST. His last two real competitions before Andrade (before his two year layoff) were at 168. Just because in his comeback tuneup he took on some 0-13 schlub at a catchweight that was technically closer to the CW limit doesn't mean he's some huge guy. He was a career SMW who was returning from two years of inactivity, and had a "**** it, just get in there and get a feel for being in the ring, shake some rust off" date with a tomato can without trying to cut back down to proper fighting weight just yet.

So yeah, I know Boxrec had him listed as a "Cruiserweight" as of last night...but he is NO cruiserweight, at all. They just go by your last outing. His last outing was a piece of **** against a can where neither of them even tried to make the limit of any particular division. Since it was over the LHW limit, Boxrec just called him a "CW" for all intents and purposes for the time being. Now, after having fought Andrade at LHW he is listed as a LHW.

    He isn't a LHW.

He's a small super middleweight, and honestly has a frame more suited to 160. Kind of a 'tweener. He'd be a biggish MW but a smallish SMW.

Come on. I love Andrade, but he's about as adaptable as the cement blocks his beard has so often been compared to..
