    Yes, I read about it in the papers. But don't you think Murray deserves some recognition too? He won a recognized duration title against # 5 rated Harry Bobo by Ohio and Maryland Commisions. Murray also split with Bivins during the Louis' absense.

    I agree that Murray and Ray were both outstanding fighters, but during that time, when Louis was away, Bivins IMO was just a little better.

    Pretty impressive Jersey Joe beat all 3 of em huh? Jersey Joe was a great great fighter. He deserves a special place in the history of boxing.

    I agree that Jersey Joe was outstanding as well, but during the time Louis was away, Bivins had the better record.

    Walcott lost to another friend of mine, Johnny Allen in 1945 and he beat Murray by a DQ. He did beat Ray in 1937, but that was when Ray was very green and had a record of 2-5-2. They split 2 close decisions in 1946 & 1947. The split decision win over Bivins in 1946, was his best up to that time.
