I guess this confirmed that Chuck is really shot. What were you thoughts on this... based on how bad he looked, does it take anything away from Evans' win over him?

I would have expected Chuck's punches or power to be there but he looked shot in every aspect, and I honestly don't think it was because of his opponent.

What is next for Shogun, who would be a formidable opponent? I think a fight against Jardine would be good for him, its winnable.

To Shogun's credit... He looked like he was in phenomenal shape.

If Shogun is back to his best he is the best 205 fighter around, it's unfair to say Chuck is shot because he lost to Shogun. Chuck will always be the same fighter he has always been a heavy handed guy with a good chin and decent defense, he can compete at the contender level.
Shogun would have beat Chuck at his peak, and Shogun will be champion if he doesn't get another injury.

Yep, its seem that the second rampage fight was the beggining of his downfall. It's sad. I hope he retires.

What? Chuck doesnt have anymore a good chin, its completly shot. A prime Liddell eat Shogun all day. He is 39. He need to retire.

What? You have to be kidding me. His punches had no steam on them whatsoever and he was super slow, he lost his reflexes, in addition to punch resistance.

Liddel gets battered before he gets KO'd his chin is good enough. No chance a prime Liddel beats Shogun, Chuck is predicatable and one dimensional, but his 1 dimension is very good, Shogun is in the top 5 most well rounded fighter in MMA today.

I think if Chuck thinks he can compete for the belt he should retire, if he wants to hang around and compete against up and coming fighters he could do that, he is still a big name and has skills.

That was because Shogun took his base away early, if he was in the ring with a lesser fighter he would be competitive.

A Prime Liddell is completly different than the fossil we saw last night. Really no reflexe, he lost a bit of hand speed, his chin? He is now in the james thompson category. His only victory in his last 5 fight, is against another fighter who is completly shot.

You must have watched Chuck in his good day. He EATED agressive fighter.

I am not saying Liddell is at his peak, but he could fight guys like a guy like Soszynski, weather he wants to do that is his decision, maybe he wants to quit on top, sure he could do that but if i was him i would retire.

And i stick to what i said Shogun in 2006 would have beaten Liddell

Chuck was even slower then his last fight he was slow and plodding and it was obvious after the first couple exchanges he didn't have it. Too bad it had to end like this i'm sure he didn't want to leave the sport on the canvas.

Yeah, both of those attributes are clearly still top notch.
It's not like he keeps getting 1 punch KO'd or anything.

Mali, I agree with you 2006 Shogun beats a prime Liddel worse then these two versions last night. I've always liked Chuck as a fighter and a person but Shogun is and always will be better. As for Chucks chin, it may not be what it used to but it is FAR from Thompsons don't be ridicules. Shogun is starting to get back to form and that spells bad business for the rest of the division.

You really were that impressed with Shogun's performance?

I don't see Shogun being champion. He doesn't have the fundamentals to do it. He is too wild and would get beaten by a guy like Machida or Evans. I would even take Griffin to beat him in a rematch, I don't think the first fight was a fluke.
