"It's a challenge to knock someone out and i want challenges" "I wanna be spectacular by having knockouts" I always say have a fighter talk enough and they will tell you their mentality. Signs of Nonito falling in love with his power after that Montiel KO. You can tell that wasn't his ultimate intention before that fight, by how suprised he was with it. It just came naturally. He wasn't looking for it too hard. He's looking for that same spectacular KO these days. Sometimes when you're in that mindset it doesn't come because you force things more.
I think he needs guys to come and fight him. In the sparring you can see how much more natural it is for him to box a guy, walk them onto shots etc Chasing guys is not his thing.
:thumbsup I also think he would do better with people who press the fight. But he can really do well against ANY style. The kid is THAT good he can go into 'tough' fights just trying to get a spectacular, highlight reel knock out as winning is a forgone conclusion. I think his braintrust is putting pressure on him to get these knockouts too. Because they've told him that's what will make him a star. People are also making it worse than it is too with his performances - they haven't been that bad. It's just the expectations are so high since that Montiel fight. Let's put it this way. Just imagine you got with a woman and she gave you the best sex you have EVER had. I'm talking an unreal experience. Then you got with her again but even though she was still good and probabily was better than anyone else you had been with. She just wasn't as exhilarating as the first time experience. That's what Nonito Donaire is going through right now after that spectacular KO of Montiel.
Totally agree, haven't watched yet but the way he acted after the Narvaez and Vazquez Jr fights he seemed disappointed that the didn't walk forward and leave openings for him to land his left hook. Part of it is also that since the Montiel fight expectations for Donaire have been so high, even though he beat his last 2 opponents clearly the general reaction to his performances has been negative. EDIT: didn't read your second post, you just said the same thing :thumbsup
