According to Box Rec, WBA minimumweight champion Roman Gonzalez has made the move to an already hot division that includes the newly crowned WBO/WBA/Ring Magazine champion Giovanni Segura, WBC champion Omar Nino Romero, IBF champion Ulisses Solis, Carlos Tamara, Rodel Mayol, Juan Carlos Reveeco, and the former WBO/WBA/Ring Magazine champion Ivan Calderon. Also, it has been rumored that Raul Garcia, the former IBF minimumweight champion, will follow Roman's footsteps making this division one of the hottest in all of boxing! I only wish that Brian Villoria and Edgar Sosa would come back and then it will be confirmed that this division is the best of all! If you are not familiar with the fighter's records, here are some quick facts (refer to Box Rec):

Roman "Chocolatito" Gonzalez, from Nicaragua, 26-0-0, 85% KO's
Giovanni "El Guerrero Azteca" Segura, from Mexico, 25-1-1, 78% KO's
Omar "Giant Killer" Nino Romero, from Mexcio, 30-3-2, 33% KO's
Ulisses "Archie" Solis, from Mexico, 31-2-2, 60% KO's
Carlos "El Olimpico" Tamara, from Colombia, 25-5-0, 58% KO's
Rodel "Kid Rapido" Mayol, from Philippines, 26-5-2, 61% KO's
Juan Carlos "Coto" Revecco, from Argentina, 21-5-0, 58% KO's
Ivan "Iron Boy" Calderon, from Puerto Rico, 34-1-1, 17% KO's

Raul "Rayito" Garcia, from Mexico, 28-1-1, 57% KO's

Brian "Pinoy Punch" Villoria, from USA, 27-3-0, 47% KO's
    Edgar Sosa, from Mexico, 35-6-0, 52% KO's

It's a great didvision that no one gives two shits about because the fighters are ''too small''.

Sadly, I have to agree, but I have to tell you that anyone not paying attention is missing out on one hell of a division. These fighters are hungry. Some of them fight four, five times a year. If you watch their fights, you will see that they go all out until the end, making their fights extremely exciting. Furthermore, and contrary to popular belief, some of these guys can punch with lots of power! Instead of waiting on mega fights, these fights are the kind of fights that keep boxing alive. :bbb

    Agreed 100%.

I love watching Gonzalez fight and im glad he's moving up. Him vs Archie would be great. I know there's Segura, Calderon etc but that is one fight id really like to see. Some people say they cant watch anything below featherweight and I dont know why.

I'm not sure why anyone would dislike these divisions, especially, when there is so much talent involved and the higher weights are having a hard time getting a big fight made. Gonzalez is actually facing off against Revecco. That kid has power and its going to be a war for both. Segura will most likely rematch Calderon as it has been rumored. "Archie" is fighting Cesar Canchila, a big puncher from Colombia with a record of 28-3-0, 71% KO. As far as the other fighters mentioned, thus far, nothing has been mentioned but the talent is there for another big fight to be made.

Great, all of those are bound to be good fights. I dont get it with some people, these guys are extremely quick, throw like 100 punches a round, and judging by their records, they hit hard, Gonzalez being a prime example at strawweight.

Historically the division has been a riot. The little guys are the heart and soul of this sport.

Not as good as 118 and 126 but a good dvision.

I really like Chocalatito but Segura is simply too big for him in my opinion, even though Chocalatito is the better fighter and boxer.

Dam if only Calderon would had 27-28 years again se He could school all those guys. So sad He can't compete at his best. Still He could beat a few of them.

The best thing about Gonzalez, besides his exciting style of fighting, his record, and his KO %, is his age. He is only 23 and has room to conquer multiple divisions. The other thing to like about Roman is his personality. He is very humble and a gentleman in the ring. He also can be funny as in his last fight he came out to the ring to the beat of what sounded to be a romantic melody. When asked about the song he said someone had wrote it for him and he couldn't say no to them. Good luck Roman and I hope you make all Nicaraguans proud! :bbb

You forgot the old Argentinian Luis Lazarte....beat Tamara for the IBF strap in his 6 or 7th attempt at a world title aged 39! Just made a defence recently.

With the addition of Gonzalez and hopefuly Joyi soon this division will be **** hot :deal Hopefully it gets a bit more coverage.
