With Calzaghe, Hopkins, Dawson, Johnson, Woods, Tarver, Diaconu and Erdei all fighting in the next day/week/two weeks or so...there's bound to be a big shake-up at LHW. So...it would be interesting to compare your current Top 10 with your top 10 after all these fights have taken place! So...what is your current 175 Top 10, including Calzaghe?:think
Mine: before: - 1. Calzaghe 2. Dawson 3. Hopkins 4. Woods 5. Diaconu 6. Erdei 7. Johnson 8. Braehmer 9. Tarver 10. Roy Jones Junior
Current: (sorry, I can't include Calzaghe) C. Erdei (infortunately; would be about 4th otherwise) 1. Woods 2. Dawson 3. Hopkins 4. G. Johnson 5. Tarver 6. Jones Jr. 7. Diaconu 8. Garay 9. Barashian 10. Muriqi If this weekend goes as I expect, then Calzaghe jumps in at #3, Tarver and Diaconu switch spots, and Elvira Mistress of the Albanians gets knocked out of the top 10. Such a weak weight class after the top right now. the top 8 guys are pretty well set, but the last three are pretty interchangeable with about 10 other guys, none of whom are very good (Stipe Drews, Reggie Johnson, Tito Mendoza, etc.). I left out Danny Green and Paul Briggs because they both seem to be retired, otherwise they show up in there.
Before: 1. Hopkins 2. Woods 3. Dawson 4. Tarver 5. Johnson 6. Calzaghe 7. Diaconu 8. Erdei 9. Braehmer 10. Roy Jones Junior After I predict: 1. Calzaghe 2. Woods 3. Dawson 4. Hopkins 5. Johnson 6. Tarver 7. Diaconu 8. Erdei 9. Braehmer 10. Roy Jones Junior
Calzaghe is not yet a LHW so we shouldn't rank them... This weekend and the next can rearrange the whole top 10 as Dawson, Johnson, Woods, Tarver, Hopkins and Diaconu will step in the ring and Joe will have his debut on the 19th. Before that mine is something like this: 1. Hopkins (The Ring) 2. Dawson (WBC) 3. Woods (IBF) 4. Erdei (WBO, lineal) 5. Johnson
Braehmer? Isn't he still a SMW? Yeah I know he fought over the 168lb weight limit last time against some bum but that hardly qualifies him a top 10 LHW does it? And I don't think you can rate Calzaghe at LHW either, he hasn't fought there yet. But before I look like a total jerk, here's my list : 1. Hopkins 2. Dawson 3. Erdei 4. Woods 5. Tarver 6. Johnson 7. Garay 8. RJJ 9. Diaconu 10. Barashian
Mine: after: - 1. Calzaghe 2. Dawson 3. Johnson 4. Hopkins 5. Tarver 6. Erdei 7. Diaconu 8. Roy Jones 9. Braehmer 10. Woods I was picking Hopkins to beat Dawson...but after his performance at the weekend, I cannot see it anymore. He's just too old.
Noticed boxrec had Henry down to 44th, after his close fight with Diaconu. LHW must be the deepest division in boxing if Henry is 44th...:yep
You put Diaconu ahead of Jones after Saturday's performance vs. a virtually unknown (I know, undefeated) guy? :huh
Yeah. I don't think Jones would outbox Diaconu all that much, right now. Diaconu would most likely stop Jones. The fact that Henry was/is unknown has nothing to do with the fact that he has a better than very good chin, a hard punch, a strong body that can take a punch too and very good athleticism and stamina. Henry is inexperienced but by the time he is 30, he will become a Champ at LHW, I'm sure of it. It's just his technique and ring-smarts that need to improve. If he had been a bit smarter, he'd have finished Diaconu.
