That the only way, yes. I just don't see Bob letting Kovalev, Beterbiev and Gvozydk fight on DAZN. But Bivol, by the way, is not signed to Matchroom. He has a copromotional deal via his promoter (whoever it is, I don't remember now). So, maybe (just maybe) their copromtional agreement is over soon.
All those cases are special. Crolla was a mandatory. The Loma vs. Campbell fight will be televised in the UK by a TV network which is Hearn's choice. And Khan, who's most probably has almost friendly relations with Eddie, signed a three fight deal with Matchroom. He fought two of those fights on DAZN and only the third fight (Crawford) they decided to let ESPN televise simply because it was a PPV and DAZN doesn't do PPVs. So, again, realistically, will Hearn allow Bivol to fight Gvozdyk on ESPN? Hell no!
How is Bivol's case any different from Khan? Khan-Crawford being on PPV is of complete insignificance. It was still on ESPN. And there is nothing special about a mandatory bout. By that same logic you can say Bivol´s case is special because it's a big tournament.
I doubt you could make a tougher tournament in the sport right now. It is absolutely up in-the-air. Completely and utterly loaded. Alvarez isn't even in it either!
Khan is a much bigger star than Bivol. That fight being on PPV is of significance. Because it wasn't just "this network or that network", it was "this way of earning money or that way". And again, with Bob it was probably "my way or the highway", so Khan just asked Hearn: "Eddie, I want this fight, let me go please". A mandatory case is special because the money split percentage if heavily favorable to the champion which makes it harder for the mandatory fighter's promoter to win the purse bid (he would have to pay most of the money to the champion). On top of that it was vs. Loma. I don't understand this part. A big tournament? We (boxing fans here) would love to see it yes, but it's not a big tournament, in fact. For American public it's just four "Russians" fighting each other. Kovalev is somewhat known (never was big draw) but Gvozdyk and Beterbiev... Oh, that's sad.
None of you logic makes any sense, and the business does´n work like that. Khan gets to ask for a pass because it's PPV but Bivol can't for a tournament? Campbell and Crolla get a pass because it's a big opportunity? Fact is that just because someone is with Matchroom, doesn't mean they can't fight on other US networks. Bivol doesn't have an exclusivity deal with DAZN.
Why would Hearn care about a tournament? He doesn't give a **** about tournaments (from a sport perspective). He cares about money. Khan was offered at least $5 million dollars, and Khan was a MR fighter (so the money is theirs to split). Nobody will offer even close to that sum for Bivol, and Bivol is a copromoted fighter, so they would have to split that significantly smaller amount between all the sides. So, why bother? Hearn needs fights for DAZN, so he will rather use Bivol for that. Just read my posts carefully. I don't see the point of repeating the same things again and again.
Khan fought on a different platform because of money? Lets say he wasn't getting paid 5mil. Let's say it was 300k like Crolla got for Loma. Matchroom is known for letting fighters fight on other platforms. The LHW tournament would be a big deal with a lot of money involved. Why would they keep Bivol away from it? Because Hearn needs Bivol? There is no way he needs Bivol that badly. You can't say that there is no way Bivol would take part if it wasn't on DAZN. And you know what the kicker is? Hooker vs Ramirez is about to be announced on DAZN. The same Ramirez who is with TR, who has an exclusive deal with ESPN. The same TR who need fighters. If a fight makes sense then promoters are willing to change things up. Heck, even HBO allowed some PBC guys back on at times(Crawford-Molina Jr.)
I just don't see it happening in real life. In my opinion, ESPN will not offer (they just won't care) enough money to get Bivol on ESPN. I see DAZN allocating money for such a tournament, but I don't see Bob allowing Kovalev, Bererbiev and Gvozdyk to go fight on DAZN. That would be just crazy. If they start trading boxers — that's good. A step in the right direction. Yet, I'm still skeptical about Bivol. By the way, are you sure that he himself wants to fight all these other LHW champions? Then why has he signed with DAZN?
I'm all for kovalev beating yarde but if yarde beats love you'll be the first one to hate and make excuses
