RJJ did it, but Ruiz did beat Evander Holyfield once and drew with him the third time. But which light heavies would you pick to beat the infamous John Ruiz?

ANY decent LHW could beat Ruiz, assuming the rules were properly enforced against his illegal holding tactics; referees didn't buy his ham acting to get bogus low blow calls like in the Thunder, Holyfield and Johnson fights; or King's judges didn't get him a gift decision in a fight he hit the canvas twice and clearly lost like Golota.

So, if King's involved and Ruiz gets favorable treatment from the refs and judges like he did in his actual career, this glorified clubfighter could "win." Otherwise a decent LHW takes it.

Spinks, Charles, Conn, Tunney, Moore, Moorer, Johnson and Loughran are my immediate picks, there's definitely more as well though.

Ruiz was an upgraded Scott Ledoux who had Don King in his corner.

Rosenbloom vs Ruiz, if you can stomach the idea? Think about Beterbiev vs Ruiz to recover. Do either beat him?

    He did not....

Golata scored a flash knock downs and did nothing afterwards for the rest of the fight, he fell asleep and without low blows Golata sucks the big one, the mental midget got out hustled.
I am no Ruiz fan , he was dreadful to watch but he perfected his fighting style after the Tua icing to a jab/grab/fall in and most guys he faced had no answer including one trick pony Rahman.........but it pains me to admit IMO he won the first Holy fight, that was a gift win for Holyfield........ one could argue that he won the fight against the Missing Link too.

Again, Ruiz was dreadful but effective.

He also had a sneaky right hand with some sauce behind it.

That's a few that I'd put money on to whip Ruiz. The one that lost to Jones, was pathetic. Just shows how finished Holyfield was, to lose and draw against the same man.

Ruiz also got penalized a point. If you mean clinching 15-16 times every round then he was being effective. Ruiz scored more clinches, Golota scored more punches.

Are you talking about fighters that started at Light heavyweight and had already moved up to heavyweight like Holyfield or matching Ruiz against fighters who are not allowed to weight more than 175Ibs in the matchups?
