I'd like to know of fighters who were in light heavy cruiser or any weight class below who had moved up to heavyweight to compete. Whether or not they were successful.
Do we define successful by winning a heavyweight belt? Michael Spinks, Michael Moorer, Roy Jones Jr., Ezzard Charles, Floyd Patterson and Gene Tunney were light heavies that moved up and won heavyweight titles. Holyfield and Haye moved up from Cruiserweight to win a heavyweight belts. Lots of guys have moved up and won some big fights but if we are talking titles, those are the dudes that come to mind. I'm willing to bet that I am missing someone.
Ezzard Charles Archie Moore Harold Johnson Michael Spinks Billy Conn Jimmy Bivins James Toney Roy Jones Evander Holyfield David Haye Gene Tunney Tommy Loughran Floyd Patterson Joey Maxim Chris Byrd Michael Moorer All come to mind off the top of my head. They all had varying degrees of success at heavyweight.
