This is a very disturbing video. I think its been quite evident that James Toney has been slurring his speech significantly since Peter II, but his speech deterioration has progressed to a point where I would say the he is at the same level as a Roger Mayweather.

At 1:27 of this video, he drools visibly.

If that isn't video proof of CTE, then I don't know what is.

There shouldn't be any licensing body in the world that should allow JT to fight any longer.

Yeah he doesn't sound good. I haven't watched all of Toney's fights but a lot of people say he is one of the best defensive fighters ever. But if he has a really good defence then why does he sound like he has been hit too many times?

He should retire though, him and Riddick Bowe shouldn't be allowed anywhere near a boxing ring.

How old is Toney? About the same as as B-Hop, a bit younger maybe (which makes it worse?) Worlds of difference.

I think Toney is about 4 years younger.
Bhop sounds the same as he did 20 years ago.

Probably because Bhop lived a very clean life and trained very hard all year around.
But most likely some genetics involved as well.

Even though he has a very good D Toney got hit a lot due to almost no foot movement, Bhop gets hit flush so rarely.

Appreciate the answer but there's no need to call me a dummy when I asked a legitimate question. If your angry take a few deep breaths and cups of water before being a keyboard warrior.

Toney was always one of my favorites, I always rooted for him even against RJJ. Loved watching him school Iran Barkley, watching him put the #1 cruiserweight in the world at the time Vassiliy Jirov thru a old school ass whipping, KO'ing Holyfield. But mainly his MW and SMW career, he was a throwback to the greats of old, and imo deserves to be considered one of the all-time greats. I never really could understand him though...

He needs to quit and do it ASAP, these fools are playing with their lives both him and Roy Jones who's going to end up with brain damage.

Ok, perhaps it was uncalled for but; "if he has a really good defence" is similar to questioning Tyson's finishing skills.

Toney was an exceptionally gifted fighter. His decline is very sad to see, in the ring and out. Whilst it's not nice seeing a once great fighter lose to opponents like Peter, it's just sad to hear him so incoherent. He really does need to stop fighting both professionally and sparring.
