remember when Mayweather/Cotto/Tszyu/Hatton/Abdullaev/Ricardo Williams/Harris/Witter were all vying in the same division?

now look at lightweight. We have Casa/Juan Diaz/and a ton of up-n-comers like..

Katsidis/Peterson/Khan/D.Diaz/Santa Cruz/ and pac if he beats marquez.

lightweight is the division of the future...

When you look at the names who were in the LWW at one time, it's really disappointing that not many of the potentially great fights were made.

definitely, but I kind of see why.

Tszyu was fighting sporadically and the hatton loss sealed the deal.
Hatton wasn't going to take the toughest fights right after the Tszyu win, he took some decent challenges and made some money first.
Cottos team made sure he was fully developed before putting him in with the elite.
Mayweather had proposed fights with hatton and cotto fall through, and decided to go for the welterweight championship.
Ricardo WIlliams got lazy, and then went to jail.
Abdullaev had a silly loss, and then quit against Cotto. He was essentially weeded out of contention.

still dissapointing nonetheless, but theres still hope for hatton v cott.
