It's possible to see Ramirez doing very well here, for me he is one of the best of his era, a good technician and hits well downstairs also. Angott the better boxer for me, could be caused trouble by the southpaw style, but i think over the 15 he would dig out a decision which would afford him all his boxing nouse and movement

    Angott

Angott was a bit too cagey for Jose Luis Ramirez. He'll hit and hold and smother Ramirez, not allowing him to get off the shots he'd like. Clear points win, probably a 10-5 type of decision, and that's with Jose staging a bit of late comeback.

Ramirez by UD : Angott swarms and wrestles his way to an early lead, hurts his hand and Ramirez is able to work clean punches in as the rounds go by, piling up rounds in the second half of the fight.

Angott by UD in a similar manner to how Mancini did him. Swarm, flurry, roughhouse, and get out.

Angott grabs, clutches and spoils his way to an unpopular 15 round split decision over Ramirez. Angott's cleverness dosen't win him any fans, but he does what he has to to take the decision over the plodding Ramirez.

I see Angott's swarming style giving Ramirez fits. His tactics would confuse Ramirez completely thowing off all of his rhythm and timing.

    Angott UD close but clear

Ramirez uses good boxing skills to take an early lead. Angott finally comes on and starts to score. They rumble in the trenches. Ramirez' lack of true knockout power. begins to turn the tide for Agnott, who is landing harder shots. A flash knockdown in the 12th of Ramirez. Gets Sammy the nod in a close Split Decision.

Do you not rate a fighter of Angott's era as highly? That's really the only way I can see justification for Ramirez winning this bout. He clearly proved he was able to beat far superior fighters than Ramirez ever did outside of Arguello, which was in a 10 round bout that saw Arguello coming on late, per usual. In fact, Angott has one of the best and most underrated resumes of all time.
