15 rounds, if you don't give a reason for your answer then it won't be counted.

I'm going to take Chavez here, on dazzling lightweight form, it is possible to see him making an Edwin Rosario out of Jck, though i won't go that far in my estimation of this bout, i think he could put more work together to get a decision.

Beau Jack wasn't an elite, of course, but he was a vintage tough guy, and that would have enabled him to last 15, in losing a big decision in a punishing fight.

Chavez is not quite Ike Williams who battered Jack on the ropes...

(Anyone agree that was one of the worst late stoppages ever???)

He was definately in his physical prime at this weight, I see him grinding out a decision in absolutely grueling fight.

Yeah i agree on the stoppage, ridiculously dangerous. And Ike asking the ref to stop it as well.

By the way, sorry, you're picking Chavez here?

Chavez by clear decision. Chavez was at his best at 135 and a very underrated boxer. He'd more than hold his own on the inside and outbox Jack from the outside.

    Chavez by Late Ko
at 135 he was a monster ... Non stop pressure, legendary stamina and chin .. and without a doubt in his physical prime ... to much for Jack to deal with

I can see not many here are very educated on Jack, if at all. He was definitely an elite LW, he was definitely at least as strong as Chavez, and I strongly doubt Chavez is going to be fighting the majority of the fight on the front foot. He'd be boxing and moving like he was against La Porte once he felt Jack's strength inside. I see this as a very close fight that could go either way. Jack was a pretty skilled fighter as well, crafty little guy. He was able to slip and jab under people's reaches very well, and always seemed capable of making his way inside. I thik Chavez was the more fundamentally sound boxer in and out, and that may win him the day here, but I can guarantee you this fight is going down to the wire. People are really underestimating Jack's strength and skills.

But I'll go against the grain just for the sake of it and pick Jack by close Decision.

Yeah that's not a bad post, and i agree, but the only real area where i see Jack as on par or i'd say a bit better is in that area as you mentioned, physical strength.

No stoppage here, you've seen what he took from Ike Williams, far the superior puncher to Chavez.

I doubt either of us have seen enough footage of him in action to really say, but all one needs to do to understand the merits of his effectiveness is scam over his record. He beat pretty much all of the best LW's of the era, and that was as stacked a LW era as there's ever been.

And that's one of the best lightweight eras in terms of the top few guys.

Both fighters giving and taking in a tremendous war. Chavez' bodywork pays dividens late as he steps up the pressure to nab a close Split decision win.
