Duran by late stoppage, his overall game is too complete. Ike should be in this match.

Mayweather tries to establish himself early with a stiff jab & movement. Duran is patient & bides his time. By the mid rounds Roberto comes on and applies pressure. mayweather cannot deal with this kind of attack & Duran takes control. Floyd is too fast & crafty to be Kayoed. Duran by 15 round UD.

Having given this some thought I like Mayweather to win a close decision. I think Duran will take the early rounds. Mayweather can be a slow stater. I think Mayweather will find his comfort zone and counters Duran in the mid and late rounds.
    Mayweather 9-6

Clever boxers gave Duran trouble ,well, they give anyone trouble, but Mamby, and Viruet both went the distance with Duran, and Fernandez gave him some hard work too.Mayweather is better than them, but ,he relies a lot on shoulder rolls and head movement to slip shots ,he has good feet but doesnt employ elusive footwork ,which bothered Duran, backed up on the ropes ,like a miniature James Toney is not a good idea for Floyd against this man.Floyd would recognize this after a few rounds and fight in ring centre constantly changing direction and giving Duran angles.
Floyd has underated power ,helped by the fact that his handspeed means opponents often don't see shots coming magnifying their affect ,check out the Corralles fight.
Duran had good handspeed himself and at Light weight very proven power, plus he had wonderful head movement , so was often able to take the sting off shots at the very last moment.
Duran brings an intensity to the fight that Mayweather cannot match. The fight is close for 9 rds, then Duran begins to land more often and Floyd commences to wind down, not entirely ,but enough so that Duran is dominating the exchanges in the latter rounds.
Duran takes a u dec, but not by much.

I say Duran by UD. Too much pressure, while slipping too many punches. A repeat of Montreal, basically.

You make a valid point mcvey.

But in his lightweight career clever boxers gave Roberto as much trouble as he allowed them quite often IMO..Once he became a more complete boxer, he tended to coast when a fight was in control.

I think whilst Mamby and Viruet are inferior to Floyd ..They both had rock chins that were proven throughout their career. Im not totally sure their style and defensive ability is what saw them go the rounds with Roberto as much as it was their impressive durability. And lets not forget Saoul went the rounds in a non title fight over 10 heats.

The early Duran seemed a bit more adept to taking out guys of Mayweather's ilk. The fleet footed and the very crafty Buchanan for instance, the athletic and defensively sound Marcel, the well schooled mover in Lampkin and the fluid, counter puncher in DeJesus.
Are these guys as good as a prime Floyd? Probably not, but I dont think there is a ridiculous amount in it.

I think the Duran from the second DeJesus fight is a decent chance at stopping Mayweather over 15..I think its a little unfair on Floyd having this over that distance but thats the criteria and I dont think its unreasonable to say he could get stopped.
Over 12 he probably makes the distance and takes some rounds in the process.

Either way I just dont see Mayweather being able to deal with the intelligent, brutal and unrelenting pressure that Duran could serve up with cold blooded efficiency under the harshest of conditions.

    Duran by late stoppage.

Simply put: Gayweather never, ever faced somebody with the level of stamina and artillery that Duran would bring to the fight. Floyd would be too busy protecting his pretty face as to be able to attack

Duran would gradually dominate the second half of the fight. The last 3 rounds would be pure hell for Gayweather :!:

Do you think Floyd does as good as Ray in terms of fighting back with Duran?

Would Floyd have the same heart and determination of Ray to last the distance?

I'd like to have seen how well Mayweather's defense would have fared against Duran.

Possibly...Ray and Floyd are pretty similar in ability, though I give the edge to Ray.

I think he would. However, Duran would be on fire for this one too. Both have great technical ability, and this would be a good one. Whether or not Floyd fights back, it's Duran's unending pressure which decides this one.

I'm not sure if perhaps my view is a little skewed considering I re-watched Mayweather v Castillo I and II recently, but I really don't see this one as being as close as most so far. As this is a hypothetical contest at lightweight, then we are talking about the very, very best possible version of Roberto Duran. In my opinion, the Duran of the second and third DeJesus fights would in all likelihood stop Floyd Mayweather between rounds 6 and 9. Stylistically, Duran is not a good fight for Floyd IMO. The way he cuts the ring off, his feinting to get inside, the relentless workrate, the sheer aggression, vicious power (especially to the body), the variety in his punching, I just see this as being pretty much a maul of Floyd until either the ref stops the slaughter or Floyd collapses under the sheer intensity of wave after wave of frenzied attack. Don't get me wrong, I think Floyd is an excellent fighter. His defence, while not being good enough to shield him from Duran's offensive arsenal, would at least keep him in the game, and of course his handspeed and accuracy would see him land some crisp counters. But for me, it would take more than 'crisp' shots to seriously dent or turn the tide against a rampaging Duran, and I don't think Floyd has the necessary punching power, nor the strength to hold Duran off and fire in any effective combinations. Duran was strong enough to pin down and swarm Leonard at welterweight, I can't really envisage Floyd being able to resist him at 135. It would be a competitive and exciting fight while it lasted, Floyd would produce some neat moves under pressure, but ultimately he would crumble. But that's not a criticism - he would after all be in the ring with one of the baddest men in history.

Could'nt have put it better myself:bbb if i had i'd only have been accused of being biased by the resident SRL Rent Boys:smoke

But yer all missing the real action here:hey just imagine if this fight was today with HBO's 24/7, ****in jeezus it'd be an XXX movie, what would you pay 2 see Mayweather giving Duran the gob on the press tour & what do you think Duran's responce would be:rofl Imagine the weigh in IMO it would be carnage & then Mayweather would really know what he had in front of him & what he was going too face once the first bell rang:scaredas:
