But you never learn. Always falling for it again, and again, and again. Corrales vs floyd, rigo vs donaire, lacy vs cal, hopkins vs pavlick, floyd vs pac and the list goes on. My initial thought was that it deserved to be a draw bcuz ward dominated from the 7 , just 1 round was uncertain. Either way props to ward for grinding and making the comeback.

Maybe that just says a lot about the judging culture, which may have been swayed further to the corner of the "boxer" (we know Kovalev can also box extremely well) through the era of Floyd Mayweather Jr.

In which of those fights did the elite boxer get dropped and also land fewer jabs and fewer power shots?

Kovalev won every aspect of this fight but the score.

    Bad decision.

Yep. I said the same thing. You would think Floyd have taught EVERYBODY this once and for all. An elite boxer will always beat an elite puncher. In fairness Ward/Sergey was really close. But think about the circumstances. Ward just got to LHW and beat the dominant guy. And even if the judges had given the fight to Sergey it wouldn't have changed this truth. Look for Ward to win the rematch pretty comfortably now that he is used to fighting at this weight class at this level.

I said to myself, a draw is perfect for this kind of fight, and i thought kovalev would win it just by the kd. But i saw from 1 to 6 a couple of swing rounds and from 7 to 12 all ward minus 1 swing rounds. The fact that all 3 had the same score shows consistency. This was a razor thin fight but at least to me, wards grind and determination was more impresive than kovalevs power

Ward got a gift though, so it's kind of stupid.

Really the fact that virtually every singl ringside observer: ESPN, HBO, Yahoo, sbnation, etc... has it for Kovalev shows inconsistency.
