The Loma - Russell purse split is being re-examined because GBP believes that Loma is not entitled to the 60/40 split, but instead, 50%.

    As it stands;

    Loma: $631.350
    Russell: $420.900

If the examination completes as GBP expects, those figures will be readjusted for a 50/50 split.

How is that fair? Richard is trying to get away with a technicality because Lomachenko rents a place in California during his training camp. I don't blame him for trying but claiming that Lomachenko is a US fighter is reaching.

As long as the request is legitimate and not a tactic to avoid the fight, I could care less. Neither have done anything to be in this fight or be the "A" side.

Gonna be a helluva fight though.

They should dub it "Someone's hype has gotta go"

Had a comment on establishing residency in California but honestly cannot remember how it works for a foreign national.

No, this is right. Loma has already fought for a world title against a former titlist, Russell hasn't even stepped up to a C level opponent yet and has fought nothing but literal no name scrappers.

He hasn't even fought a noteable gate keeper or trial horse, much less a former world titlist.

    Yeah, it's right.
Schaefer is well aware how Bob Arum plays this financial shell game with his fighters like he has been doing with Pac.
Cali is Loma's registered address in the US, so the split should be 50/50.

I don't know how it works for sure, but I'd assume the higher split for the foreign fighter is to compensate them for travel and accomodation costs, renting trainig facilities in the US etc - which shouldn't apply if the fighter, like Loma, is already US based.

My take on the rule is that it should only apply where a fighter is actually living elsewhere and only traveling to the US for the fight - although maybe I've just misunderstood the rationale behind it.

I doubt Lomachenko gives a damn (or much of one anyway) about the split, sounds like it's just the title he wants.

From reading the WBO's website the purse split is based on previous purses not where a fighter is from. If a guy has been getting significantly more for his fights he gets a bigger split of the purse

The difference in split money is pretty significant.
    Something like $105,000.

More than Loma's first Pro debut earnings ($100,000).
