This makes no odds really. Are you saying Carlos Maussa and Juan Urango were huge names in America? Are you saying they are better fighters? I tell you something, Witter would be one hell of a bigger fight here. What about years ago, when he was fighting the likes of Tackie and Phillips, when his big rival was calling him out from 100km down the road?

It doesn't wash as an excuse. There is a reason this fight hasn't been made, and it's because Witter offers a very realistic threat, and could possibly thwart Hatton's money making campaign in America.

Hatton is the best at 140 now but he needs to prove himself against Paulie and Witter. Hatton has problems with boxers who has good footwork and that can counter punch. I think what makes the fights with Witter and Paulie interesting is that both fighters can beat him. If Hatton can beat them both he can retire knowing he's the man at 140 and this would also put him in the hall of fame. If he loses to them he not going to be in the hall of fame.

I think hatton is the man at 140, but he ducks his top opposition. He was brave when he fough PBF, but what has he done at 140 lately? Take Paulies belt, fight Torres, Fight Witter.... Pretty much in that order and Hatton will be back on top of his game.

Juan Urango had the belt that Ricky Hatton vacated moving up to WW... he was also undefeated and strong.

Carlos Maussa was known for getting knocked out by Cotto, and beating Vivian Harris for his WBA crown ... which Hatton took.

All former opponents of Kostya Tszyu and was setting up a fight with Tszyu which he did and he stopped him. (Tszyu is one of my favorite fighters and he beat him)

How is Witter a rival? ... because he seen Hatton rising to stardom and he wanted to hate?

Just because you believe you can beat a guy isn't even 1/2 the battle you actually have to prove it and back up those words.

He also called out PBF when he learned that he was going to be the mandatory for that belt that Floyd vacated ... do you think that he wouldve beaten Floyd because he called him out?

There was a reason why Floyd didn't fight him and Judah beat him after losing to Tszyu ...

He's a gatekeeper and his focus is on Hatton so much that he's going to lose that belt to someone more deserving and doesn't care about Hatton & just wants a belt.

Yeah ... he will D ... he will beat those guys because they aren't on his level.

He will knock those guys out because they have one thing but lack another.

He was on the campaign to get his belts back before a big money fight came about with Floyd. You can't pass up 10+ mill to fight ... and he was wrongfully stripped of his belt that he won from Urango.

Just cause of his jocking of Hatton ... Witter will soon lose that belt ... just like Malignaggi ... just wanting a big payday.

Defend your belt and hope to gain enough pub to land a big fight -- do it properly ... Floyd, Oscar, Shane, and Tito didn't get their fame by calling guys out -- they fought the best and got noticed.

I think Hatton good but I don't think that he's that good to beat Paulie easily. I think Paulie has a better chance to beat Hatton than Torres. The only thing Hatton has over Paulie is Power. I think Paulie is a tough fight for Hatton and it will be a close fight that can go either way.

I just wonder how he bounces back from that first L. He hasn't handled gracefully as of yet... Blaming everyone for him getting beat at his own game...:!: He still is a good champ and he has to handle this Witter business.

Your excuses are incredibly weak. It is absolutely ridiculous to have a guy in the top 10 of your division, that lives 100km down the road, and you havn't fought him. How ****ing stupid does that look? I don't want to hear bull**** about why he fought Urango or Maussa, there have been MANY oppotunities for this fight to happen pre and post Tszyu.

What the **** does it matter that Judah beat him? That was ages ago, Witter was a kid. Besides, if he's such a gatekeeper he should be an easy nights work for Hatton eh? Witter has done everything for this fight. Offered himself up at short notice, offered to fight for peanuts.

Fact is, Witter is a champion now and Ricky ain't which puts him in a strong position. If this fight doesn't happen, we know for certain what we already suspect. Hatton has BLATANTLY ducked him.

Sit down and have a word with yourself. Why isn't a guy fighting a bloke that lives on his street? Why doesn't he want to shut him up?

I think if he stayed at WW then he would have to retire but because he's the LWW champ ... and that division has no real fighters in that division it won't be hard for him to get back in the groove with a couple of tune ups.

I know what you're saying ... its very hard to take your first loss, but it must happen to many --

I think he can do it ... there's no one there at 140 they're either at lightweight or WW ... nothing in between.

He will follow the steps of his predicessor Tszyu...

Witter is a paper champion and isn't universally recognized like Hatton is ... I think he craves for Hatton's lifestyle and status more than anythinig.

Than why is Hatton ducking Witter? It's been like 7 years and he still won't fight him. He needs to fight Witter if he going to the hall of fame.

paulie doesn't have the power to hurt hatton, hatton should beat him. Witter on the other hand can punch. He may not be the best pure boxer out there, but his athleticism would cause major problems for hatton.
