Is it any surprise when Frank go's out of his way and endears himself to the paying fans? I often look at Frank, listen to him and think, ''what a ****ing good bloke he is''.
:deal What else do people want with 7 days to go? Andre Ward in his backyard? FW pulls in Karpency, Walsh etc with 10 weeks notice.... That said if the May 25th is a **** opponent (Kenny Anderson) then fair enough it needs to be someone ranked top 7/8 IMO
Just seen this.In another thread some Argentine records. The one with the best{Madema}has knocked this lad out in the first round,is unbeaten, but has no recognisable names.Hes also been stopped,I think,4 other times.Groves is at least a fringe contender.I hope this fight doesn't go ahead,if only for the Argentinian lads safety, and Im not joking.Could see the board not sanctioning this and George without an opponent. Then all it needs is Purdy/Jones off again and this bill is pulled.
From Eddie's and Groves' perspective, it's a good save. But ignore all the context and just look at what the fight is. It's shocking. Just because you're elated that Groves has gone to someone else doesn't mean the other point is no longer relevant. Context goes both ways!
What Lillis is saying is if the roles were reversed people would go mental, and he's right. He's obviously aware its short notice, as am I and it wouldn't be right to criticise either promoter making a fight at this notice with a poor opponent, however, we all know FW would be getting shitloads of stick if the roles were reversed.
DF your the first to complain about fighters not staying busy. Look at all the greata back in the day, they faced some crap to stay busy. GGG ia fighting Ishiada this month to stay buy. The Argie is better than no fight which was the other option. Judge Hearn and mostly Booth on who he fights in May. I would like to see Hearn try and get Groves on HBO for the May 25th card. Do that by geting him a top opponent. Thomas Oostizeun would be class but might be a push. Karoly Balaszay, Brian Magee, Peter Manfredo Jnr are realiatic. How about Jermain Taylor?
Not if he had 1 weeks notice. 1) Booth has final say on opponents. 2) They had a week to find one. 3) Groves wanted to stay busy. 4) Groves wont make the 168 limit with push forward.
Mate we all know if FW made the same fight you'd have made 400 threads on it and the downfall of the company etc by now. So biased its unreal
We'll see how level the VVarren/ Hearns playing field is when the Froch-Kessler undercard takes shape. My guess is some people are going have their work cut out justifying the value in the card, not that that will stop them trying.
