That's the most ******ed thing I've read today (for reasons already mentioned). Lillis is just a puppet these days.

All this "at a weeks notice" is pretty much bollocks, Groves has obviously been talking to Hearn for some time, plenty of time to set something half decent up....this guy isn't even close to TTG standard

they said he was only contacted last week. its not a great opponent, although i doubt anybody, including myself being critical, has taken the time to watch him fight, just looked at boxrec.

If May 25th is anybody outside the top 25 in the world, hearn and booth will deservedly be ripped.

I agree Ice, Then again i think it would look suspect if they brought over a world class opponent at ''weeks notice'' on a show that hasn't got biggest of ticket sales.

Think Eddie and Adam are trying to play the game properly with regards to when they spoke etc.

There'd be another 5 threads slating Frank for bringing Argie taxi driver over. Don't see that now.

And what is the deal with Hearn and Argies? They couldn't find anyone in Europe, having a guy fly all the over from South America on a week's notice.

Groves will win this first by KO in the first round, he is right in a way but you can't complain because of the period of notice.

Lillis does make a valid point, although he forgets to mention the reasons why Frank gets so much stick.

    The threads would get deleted.

He obviously has a good relationship with an agent who has linked to Argentina.

    Yes deleted threads

Argentinian fighters must want really low purses. Cos you need to get them here earlier due to jetlag so need to put them up in a hotel for longer, flights are bound to be more expensive so all that additional cost for unknown opponents when you could get someone as good if not better over from Europe.

Think this is an excellent point Icemax.I said in another thread that Curtis Parker pulled out against Herol Graham. Was replaced by Lindell Holmes.Roughly the same timespan. This may be a bit extreme, but as you say, surely they could have done better. If this lad had been British, with his record, would it be allowed?Of course they're going to take it.Probably a small fortune to them.Shame.

TBH, Adam Booth is the guy that makes the decisions with regards to Groves progression and matchmaking. Very hands on..

Of all the things that has happened today and the context leading up to this, what Lillis has said cannot be accepted as anything more than spin for the gaffer. Anyway, I look forward to browsing the boxing news editorial later this week (whilst in Tesco) for another fence sitting 'contribution'. Times like this you would love to read Harry Mullan.
