Agreed Gas, And as i say that Rob's posted a thread confirming what i said about Booth being the man for fights.
Yes John.Because during his[probable]first round win not as much chance of a cut.Already signed up for May.Still crap.
Bit of money in the bank for Groves nothing more nothing less. The fans fav Booth to answer for Match making so Lillis point isn't as valid now IMO.
Hearn said: "Adam called me at the end of last week and said: 'We've severed our agreement with Frank ******, what do you think?' I went straight ahead and had a meeting with him and we agreed it in half an hour. "Once I get confirmation from a fighter and his legal team they they've terminated their agreement and are free agents ... nothing to do with me, an issue between the two [of them] ... I will talk with them. One thing I'll always do, especially at this point, is cover my back, make sure we don't slip up anywhere or give anyone an excuse to get litigious with us. It's the first thing we do." Hearn said his agreement with Groves is for three fights and that Booth would decide whom he wants his fighter to fight. "Anyone we deal with, three fights is what we do. I never strap people into three- or five-year deals. Speak to any one of our fighters: no one has ever left. Yet. I don't think they've got any reason to. Everyone gets plenty of exposure, everyone gets plenty of fights, everyone gets paid on time. "I don't want to give anyone the opportunity at this stage, the way things are going, to put myself in an awkward position. I don't have to slag anyone off. I don't have to slag ****** off, or any other promoter. If the fighters want to leave a certain promoter and join us, I'm over the moon. It doesn't matter why a fighter would choose to leave a certain promoter. But I'm going to make certain we get the best ones."
its better than not fighting. and your more likley to have a good opponent May 25th if Groves isnt coming of a 5 month layoff. Something else that hasn't been mentioned. The tickets for this bill have already been sold, and adding Groves at one weeks notice isn't gonna bump things up massively. To secure a good opponent in normal circumstances, costs money which would normally be recouped in ticket sales and sponsorship, and Hearn would also have to pay over the odds for someone at the last minute. I think Hearn even said himself the opponent isnt great.
I still find it hard to praise Hearn, I admit he does do some good things but they are over shined by something far more sinister and damaging, a creation that scares children and can make grown men cry, they call it,,,,, Prizefighter.
i don't like PF much. Wouldn't like to see it scrapped though. just move it to weeknights 6x a year. it gives fighters opportunities and a good payday. i said this last week, when the Price vs Thompson card clashed with PF, most on here in thr RBR were watching Prizefighter over the two british title fights on the Maloney card. The same people who yearn for the days when Hamilton vs Williams and Satchell vs Wilton would have been main events and slag of Prizefighter.
