Has to be something else. How can Warren not get a good fighter a fight in a year?

Gaz I havent heard anyone say that everyone is 'petrified' of Choi, just that they are ducking him. Why has he not fought since he beat Derry last year?

Listening to some of the Derry Mathews interviews on youtube, he is clearly of the opinion that the top British guys are avoiding Choi

Explain what? I don't have this WWF-type simplistic view on boxers "ducking" or being scared of each other. He's dangerous and not a big name so he does get avoided but thats as far as it goes....lets keep this in perpective.

I respect Derry for that. I know many on here don't like Dirty Derry but he showed balls taken on an unheralded dangerous guy. It's easy to take big pay days to big names and lose, but to risk it against a guy like Choi takes a real fighters heart.

i was at the fight as my bro was fighting on the card
It was close fight with Limond doing more of the work and earning the decision, i do remember Limond getting hit with a sore one thhough and was out on his feet but managed to hold on and clear his head.

i do think recently hes being built up to be somewhat of a totally avoided fighter and a secret weapon

he did have a couple of losses before the limond fight i think
im too lazy to check his record

i would fancy Limond to out box him now though

Man, it hasn't been the WWF for years. They had issues with the World Wildlife Foundation. It's the WWE, last I checked they had two different "franchises" called "Smackdown" and "Raw", they act like they are completely seperate entities. Reminds me of Coke and Pepsi.

Avoided indeed. Petrified might be over egging it a bit...but you get the point that he's ducked and avoided.

Not in this thread, but some pretty big claims have been made for Choi in vaious other threads. I have no idea why Britains biggest promoter couldn't find a single featherweight in the world to fight Choi after he beat Matthews.....maybe, just maybe there are 2 sides to this?

I've said Choi is probably being avoided but Derry is is just doing the old trick of bigging up an opponent in that clip......

Yeah that is the only sentence I have been able to find online, that Limond took a big shot from Choi but he managed to stay upright.

I think it would be an excellent test of Limond's boxing skills to see him in again with Choi as it would be the only way to go with Choi, try to outbox him and avoid a slugfest. I think that is were Derry went wrong he at times went toe-to-toe with Choi, which played into Choi's hands really.

I think there's something more to it than people ducking Choi. Think of how many fighters are high risk with little reward and still get fights. With Warren as his promoter as well i think theres something else to it.

It is strange, there does seem to be more to it than meets the eye. Some boxers like picking up regular money as sparring partners and don't worry too much if they don't fight as often as they'd like, I've no idea whether this is the case with Choi but it does happen (more in the USA than over here though).
