People talk **** about Linares just because he's not an elite fighter. The man was supposed to be a work in progress. Just because Steward and the HBO crew said stupid **** about him being great doesn't mean that he can't make something of himself. I'd like to see people who repeatedly call him glass jawed and paper skinned to get in the ring with someone half as good as Thompson. I hope Linares finds a good fit for a trainer who can spend some time on him. I would not at all hesitate to recommend Nacho given the style he's displayed so far.
Hmmm honestly the manny performances lately. Khan losing to a guy he really should have been too good for. Chavez looking like bum in his last fight....what:huh okay forget chavez.....but anyways ya there's been enough questionable performances and rumours coming out of the roach camp that when considering the fact that he has had visable symptoms of a progressive neuro-degenerate disease for well over 15 years, it is fair to question weather or not he's slipping as a trainer. The signs are there.
chavez and khan have made massive massive improvements from when they first joined roach, its not roach's fault they're nothing special.
I've been surprised at all the hate for Jorge. I truly feel a lot of it is misplaced due to his association with Freddie Roach. Someone even posted "Manny really knows how to pick 'em", as if Manny Pacquiao has anything to do with Linares' career. In the end, I'm a boxing fan. I don't like to see any boxers fail. And I don't think he has been anymore hyped than some of the other GB fighters including Broner and Russell Jr. I really hope he can bounce back from this and have a nice career.
:good Sick of posters cheer-leading and hating more often than they do elevate fighters and the sport.
I woudnt blame Roach at all, he lost to a very limited guy who was swinging wild punches and showed very limited skills.Linares doesnt belong to the elite. And its a shame because he can box.
i blame who ever it was that talked him into training at the wildcard in the first place. i'm sure he went there with hopes of getting trained by roach...but that isn't what happened. roach has a very deep roster and some great assistants...but none of which i believe is on the level to really help a guy like linares. chances are...he may have had some physical conditioning from ariza...and freddie may have been in the corner with him for some sparring sessions...but the day to day grind...the real work...was not put in. in a sense...he is to blame for this. he should have never settled for this. he's a much more capable fighter than what he has shown. hopefully he gets with the right guy for the remainder of his career.
Linares doesn't even need a top class trainer Just somebody who will give him the time he needs... Speed, reach & height. Freddie seemed the perfect guy to help him use these assets But paperface and weak chin... meh. Khan & Manny are Freddie's two main priority's atm... When Manny retires in 2 years then it's time to try and be roach's second spot fighter
and that's why Rigondeaux packed his stuff from wild card right away, Roach was only training his sacred cows.
I don't normally say this, but Linares seems to be one of the most fantastic boxers I have ever seen They mean Emanuel Steward, not Emanuel Pacquiao. Honest mistake
Linares will soon be P4P king and Bballchump11 will recive a video of me doing my I told you so dance. :yep
