Linares is a long ass dude. Linares has excellent boxing skills. Linares has excellent speed. Linares has exceptional combos.

Linares would box Mikey Garcia's head off, but would eventually get stopped on cuts.

Lomachenko doesn't have the type of power to turn Jorge's face into a crime scene.

    Linares is...

Not that good. He's an ageing B fighter whose style is based on getting off first at medium range while turning around center ring. Not too long ago, he had very competitive bouts with Tony Crolla (first fight) and Luke Campbell. Nothing he's done either side of his back-to-back defeats to the very mortal DeMarco and Thompson has ever justified the insanely high regard that seems to hang over this man. After three or four rounds at most, Lomachenko will thrive on this guy.

Is a deal coming together now? I wearied of following these kinds of negotiation sagas a long time back.

Yes... Everyone's on board... The solution (currently) is to have the fight earlier so that it doesn't mess w/ HBO's replay of Golovkin's violent KO of Canelo.

It has been proven that Linares is a glass chin paper skin fraud

Linares is a top tier fighter but he's not beating Lomachenko.

I am not buying that this fight is any closer to being made. Cocaine Oscar is just stalling Loma out hoping he will have to scrap his May 12th date.

Far from it. Rather just (empty?) talks. At this point, I would be amazed if they manage to pull this fight off on May 12!

I think those experiences have made him cannier, sure. Marry the wisdom of a 2018 Linares with the physical prime of the 2011 version and I could see him navigating DeMarco widely. So his maturation has perhaps made a crucial difference at a certain level, but Lomachenko is a grade up from the passable B fare Linares has been having competitive tussles with. The styles match well for the younger man, t'boot.
