    Venezuelan Jorge "Niño de Oro" Linares won the vacant WBA super featherweight world championship by knocking out Panamanian Whyber Garcia at 1:08 of round number five on Friday night at the Atlapa Convention Center in Panama City. Jorge imposed his will and pressure on his opponent landing several punches causing the referee to stop the bout.

    Linares, who trains and resides in Japan was the heavy favorite to win his second world title in different weight categories after almost a year without a fight after abandon the WBC featherweight title. With the win, Venezuela again has a world champion.

    Thanks for the heads up mate. Now, I can't help myself imagining a JMM - Linares fight at the middle part of 2009.

    JMM is a bloated 130 pounders who showed people that he can KO a durable 135 pounders anytime of the day. Time for him to get back at 130 and meet linares if he can't get a fight against galaxy warrior or the unprofessional guzman or any of the 3 diazes.

    Linares is very very good.

    Have you seen him fight? Linares is a BADASS, and I can't wait to see him step up to the elites where he belongs.

    any decent fighter would look good against the scrubs hes been fighting .the bum he just beat was knocked out in the first round by Valero.
