This was a setup fight. It would be interesting to see as a comeback/tuneup fight for the great, but inactive prospect Linares, but it should never have been a WBA title fight. A lucky break for him and his promoters. What they need now is some American TV exposure and some legitimate competition.

Larios was shot nucca, and what other good fighters did he beat nutthugger or are you just talking out of love for him.
everybody looks good against those bums thats why the fighters coming out of the olimpics allways look good early on cause theyre fighting stiffs and when they step up theyre level of competition manny dont pass the test.

put any good fighter against the scrbs hes been feastin on and the results would be the same or better, the guy he just beat was stopped in one by Valero ffs.

Gamaliel Diaz, who has a decision victory over Robert Guerrero. I think Linares DID **** your girlfriend, and I'm not surprised with your shitty attitude and hater personality. Not to mention you must be just BRILLIANT, given your excellent command of the english language and your awesome spelling skills.

Next time go to boxrec your own damn self.

I've only seen one Linares fight. Against Larios. I was rooting for "Chololo" Larios, but he just seemed past his best.

Linares looked stronger, more solid and threw crisper, heavier punches.

Larios seemed to have weaker knees, but still a big heart.

I think Linares is managed by the Japanese TEIKEN GYM guys. He's Japan based for some years now. Speaks fluent Japanese.

Looking at his boxrec stats, there's no one name there that really pops out and wows me, except for Larios, who was basically a career 122 pound guy. I'd like to see more of him, watch how well he fights against better opposition.

at least Valero who also has a shitty record seems to be making an effort to fight better guys, hesw trying to fight in the States and he wants to sign with GBP,thats a sign that he doesnt want to stay in Japan fighting food delivery guys.

while Linares can fight in the States but he seems happy fighting bums and fooling his groupies that dont know **** about boxing and talk like hes the "next Coming".

some even comparing him with Arguello for ****s sake.

He was coming of a long layoff I doubt he would have taken this fight if he was active. Linares is the full package, the biggest name was Larios yes, who in coming up in weight rocked Manny Pac with a left hook. Linares handled Oscar Larios better than Pacman did. Give him time, he will eventually step up his comp.

Linares was rusty when this fight got underway. He got hit with alot of stupid shots and exhibited some poor ring intelligence - but DAMN. When he clicked into gear... The combination he threw before the combination to get Smoger to stop it was ROBINSON-ESQUE. LITERALLY. Manny Steward was right.

Yeah, he looked quite poor in the first couple of rounds. His defence looked leaky but offensively he was great. He's got nice handspeed and put his combinations together really well and the the combo to finish the fight was excellent. Still needs some work though.

People think that just because Linares doesn't keep his hands down and got a few paper titles around his waist he's better than a prospect who got knocked down a few times for a second and has some bad habits. They ignore the fact that he has sensational, perhaps once in an era type of talent with incredible stamina and mental strength to go along with his natural abilities (not to mention how terrible his style is for Linares). Gamboa by early stoppage.. hard to see anything else when seeing Linares' obvious flaws when faced with decent pressure. They most likely will square off, unless Soto or Barrios get to face Linares first and give him his first loss.. Barrios I would even favor more than Soto despite his crudeness.
