Apparently negotiations for this are underway. This is something I could get behind the first one was a good one. Just unfortunate for Luke he lost concentration and got dropped early or he would have had the decision. I think Campbell beats him next time out. Linares was brilliant at one point but his best days seem to be past him now.
The point that you make, about linares best days are behind him now, is the main reason I wouldn't be up for this fight. Well not like I was for the 1st one anyway!
This is a fight I dont mind but wouldn't watch the sky feed. I can hear the comms already. It's one of those fights that looks good on paper but in reality its a faded world level fighter getting used to boost Campbell and get the masses all on the narrative that he had Loma hurt and will beat anybody else in the division.
Makes sense for me. Avenge a defeat, linares is good to watch. Then a world title challenge the fight after.
Used to love watching Linares, great fighter, was a shame to see him steamrolled vs Cano. He looked like he was caught cold in that one, but definitely a sign of age. Campbell would win handily this time round.
I am a boxing fan, I love boxing and I love my British fighters but Luke Campbell.. I couldn't care less.
I wouldn't write Linares off totally and he's always been a bit chinny. Cano is one of them guys who's been around for ages and threatened the odd upset here and there. That said the first fight was close and Campbell hasn't disgraced himself when in against top class opposition - I still feel like he needs a name victory to build his profile - Which is odd when you think he's 32. Only 20 fights though so might be relativity fresh to box into his mid 30s. I'd watch it - the worry for Luke would be if he looses where does he go next
Campbell on points or late stoppage. If Campbell loses he should retire as Linares isn't the brilliant fighter he was.
Caught cold and going up in weight combined with Cano far from being a mug who I think Linares probably over looked. Cano can punch.
Good fight this. 1st fight was a good watch, close fight. Linares is a big name, especially over here so allows for a big fight for Campbell where he can look to avenge a loss and puts himself in the firing line for a world title shot.
It's clever matchmaking and a sellable narrative but two things spring to mind: - Campbell must win - It's sad when great fighters lose to lesser fighters due to age. Especially when they already beat the opponent years before
