Round 1 seemed to be Linares's though it was relatively quiet in terms of output from both. Prieto applying a lot of pressure and Linares happy to move on the back foot for the most part. A feeling out round for the most part. Round 2 started the same with Prieto pressuring, Linares now coming forward a bit more and landing some solid shots which get an "oooh" from the fans, Prieto staggered for 1/2 a second, another hard attack late in the round from Linares who is REALLY picking his spots well, Prieto looking like a tough SOB though. Prieto's problem isn't Linares so far but himself, he's winding up when he throws anything and Linares isn't struggling to get away. 2-0 Linares
Round 3 Linares starting to pick up the pace earlier here and has Prieto on the back foot very early, easing off by Linares who is boxing well and not taking too many risks...the opposite of Prieto who is throwing some huge round house shots! LOVELY 3 punch burst from Linares. Prieto continues to through round house punches missing with the vast number. 3-0 Linares (and Murata) had been working on their stamina back in November, seems Linares has also worked on pacing...
Round 4 Prieto back on the front foot trying to force Linares around the ring, SHARP JAB by Linares, Prieto forces Linares back and is forced to take another jab, this is certainly not looking easy for the Golden Boy...or is it! He's dropped Prieto....and...Prieto stays down! It's Ovah! Need to see that on replay...
Left jab, straight right BANG on the ear...Prieto's legs went stiff and down he went Linares claims WBC Lightweight title!
