The way it looks he brings no belt value to the table vs Wlad. I'm not sure that 'super belt' is transferable to another boxer, maybe they 'crowned' Haye for life :? or until July 2nd:lol:

Marquez put on a clinic and won almost every round. Though personally I didnt think he won every round so the draw or a Pac win was ok with me.

In no way did Ruiz win all of the other rounds against Golota

me and you share a minority opinion here. everyone hates ruiz's guts so the two knockdowns sealed the fight in their minds, but the rest of the fight had ruiz outworking golota while golota continually fouls in the clinches, the fight was set for andrew to get the belt (see what the ref did) and he just couldn't pull it off.

I think it shows that while he may not have been the best, ruiz showed a champions heart and kept at it so he deserved the win.

this period is definitely what wba cannot claim as its glory years.

i think it's the exact opposite.

Been saying this for a while, but the WBA HW title is a farce. Loved reading this that shows the mess the title became over the last few years. Doesn't go as far back as the original post but still shows up Haye as a fake champion.

Can't argue with this. Even if we go by the saying 'the man makes the belt', imho Haye hasn't done enough in the HW division to call himself a 'champ'.

. One or two days before the fight the WBA simply said that they weren't going to sanction the fight as being for the WBA belt, Chagaev loses and the WBA interm belt/fight between Haye/Valuev is now "legitimate"

All of this WBA bull**** "happens" to involve Don King fighters. He is a co-promoter for Valuev and Haye and his only real ties to the HW division. It's no suprise the Ruiz/Valuev/Haye circle has been happening. King has been on his knees and using his mouth to please the WBA so they'll do his puppet work.

They're corrupt all around though. Look at MW. Sturm refuses to fight Golovkin so he's made 'Super' champ. Golovkin is made regular champ and N'jikam who also has refused to fight Golovkin at least 3 times has become interm Champ....wtf

You're right. It's only a detail tho. Makes the WBA look even bigger fools.

It wasn’t originally for WBA interim belt.
It was for WBA HW title, that Valuev won by beating Ruiz.

Chagaev on the other hand, was holding make a belief champion in recess belt, what was nothing more than right to fight for the real WBA championship.

You see he lost his position as a champion when he failed to defend it against single top-15 guy in two years

Not only did Ruiz get knocked down twice, Golota outlanded him. And the only point deduction was assessed on Ruiz, for his usual cheating. Ruiz didn't just lose this fight, he CLEARLY lost the fight - and yet, oddly, he got the decision. That's what the influence of Don King will do for you.

Good thread btw. It's hard to take the WBA seriously anymore. Their actions in other weight classes are disgraceful as well.
