Prime Tucker clowns Dempsey. Dempsey would have that toigh hobo act thrown right back im his face by a real athlete with real skills.... And the greatest jherri curl to have ever bestrode the ring.

I recall watching Tony Tucker receiving a gift over 5"9 short arse Orlin Norris (despite a 12" reach advantage as well).

That and his pretty underwhelming resume makes me think he's getting some undeserved kudos on the back of the Tyson snore-fest. Yeah Douglas is a good win with 1990 hindsight but at the time it was meh.

I reckon Tucker is overrated as hell these days actually.

That said the jheri curl was indisputably awesome.

He sure went out bad in that Hide fight. Once those Tucker reflexes slowed just a bit, it got magnified against a quick handed guy like Herbie Hide. Makes you think the guy was vulnerable to a degree against the quick handed fighters that did not telegraph. But he still had that Ernie Terrell or Joe Bugner style of the ability to hang in there---just not get his hand raised at the end of the bout. Hanging in there is one thing and guys like Bonavena and countless others can hang in there. Winning is a whole different equation.

I was more impressed by the little we saw of Mavrovic than I ever was with Tucker.

I must have so unimpressed by Mavrovic that I can’t even remember who he was!

    Log off......

This thread is about PRIME TNT not the washed up Coke version....

Just from memory, Tucker fought Tyson in 1987.......Lemmie fought him in 1993.........Hide/Norris/Seldon fought him years and years AFTER facing Lennox Lewis.

Prime Tucker would be very difficult to stop, he had size, skill, stamina, ring generalship, decent power, heart , chin plus the ability to fight negative to survive.....points loss yes, to get him stopped I reckon no one can when prime

Tommy Hearns, Tony Tubbs, Greg Page, Michael Olajide and even the young Riddick Bowe would dispute that last part though there’s no disputing that there weren’t many Jheri curl mullet combo like Tucker’s.
