Wilder is getting a lot of stick right now, but there is an honorable history of excuses in this sport!

How many beaten champions, actually swallowed the loss?

On the flip side, Riddick Bowe has spent the last 33 years insisting Lennox Lewis didn't beat him in the Olympic final and calling him out at every opportunity, including trying to get him to fight at any event they both happen to attend.

And just behind Bowe, at the 18-year mark, is Vitali Klitschko, who calls out Lennox Lewis any chance someone brings his name up because he thinks he was robbed, too.

Don't think Patterson made any excuses the two times he lost it. Nor have I heard Ingo make an excuse. Also don't think Frazier made any excuses, even though he clearly wasn't in top shape. Charles? Walcott?

Fitzsimmons did make a number of excuses for the first Jeffries loss, including claiming he was drugged.
