Would the current mess with the sanctioning orgs be more clearer if a "Linear Belt" was introduced? Currently "the Ring" belt is the linear belt of choice. Would boxing benefit from merely having a linear title that would clean up the alphabet mess? Discuss.

It would not sort anything out because the linear Champ could not be forced to fight the best contender in the division, nor, some of the time, the best contender to fight the lineal Champ; money or risk/reward could get in the way. So the lineal Champ would lose the title either to another have-been, who wasn't the best in the division at that time either, or to a young buck who, having beaten the old linear Champ would have proven very little...and he, would aslo rather fight have-been NAMES rather than the young, prime, live no.1 contender...etc/etc/

I think there should be only one belt, and a panel from all sanctioning bodies that made a list of the best fighters in the division.

Mandatories, should be - eh mandatory.

Wouldn't work; more belts=more money all around, for all the various sanctioning bodies.

Whats up Mr. Pugilist?:D Glad to see you around.

On that wish list maybe Santa will bring someday? I'd love to see boxing reorganized and run uniformly. Maybe they could have one Unified or Super Champion and keep the multple belt structure??

    Dreams?

Yes having a Linear Belt would benefit the sport as a whole . . . but I'm afraid it's far from happening, why?

Because all these boxing organizations have their own agenda to push . . . money! They need to generate money for their own organizations through the sanctioning fees but it's too harsh, too heavy for the fighters to shoulder. Results? Fighters opt to fight even without the belt at stake sometimes because it's eating up their purse.

yes and im going to get them made for each division. they will stay the same and be passed form fighter to fighter and and if some one retires they're will be a tournament between the 4 best fighters.

i will use the ring rankings as a structure and make a belt the fighter want to hold

im sorry but the reason these fighter hold those titles is becasue they say world champion and the look like world titles. the ring belt look so small and has the magazine name on it. im sorry i know the ring belt is very prestigous and i repect it alot and view the holder of that belt as champion. but com on the have the magazine name on it and it looks like an oversized belt buckle. they need to present it better so that people want it in this day and age people want to wear something eyecatching and wants something that looks like a champion not yeah im the champion of a magazine. the should make a belt that is distinctly original does not have there logo. on it. that way the fan ca eat better to it can you imaging if SI gave out a championship ring to the number one seeded college football team at the end of a season even if the didn;t play in the bowl.
