    Just heard from Australia that Lionel Rose has passed away. So sorry to hear this, my heart and thoughts are with Jenny and Lionels family.
    RIP Champ.
    Deepest sympathy from the Rudkin family

    A great fighter and one Australians should remember as a real boxing icon, not like some of the jokers who have high profiles in the sport currently in Australia.
    There was a great film made about him a few years back, I cant find it on Youtube but it really is very good.

    And we were only talking about him yesterday, such a sad loss. Such a great man and fighter, what a shame.

    I cannot say i seen anything of him as a fighter but when you see guys talk highly of him on here that's all i need to know about him as a man and a fighter.

    One of the greatest @ 118, indeed he was a pleasure to watch.

    Says a lot for Olivares when you look at his 118 tenure!!!!!

    I think i am right in saying that his bout with Rudkin was the highest rated tv audience ever in Australia up until the 2000 Sydney Olympics......pretty impressive.

    The Rudkin and Sakurai fights are on YouTube and show a prime Rose. The Rose-Harada fight doesn't seem to be there which is a shame, I'm pretty sure I have it and I'll up it if anyone is interested?
